We are happy with the purchase of this seat. I am a stickler for safety and it was hard choice to go with this seat since it is so hard to find in the brick and mortar stores near us. However taking the leap was great and couldn't be happier.
br /
br /After careful review of many seats (including the britax, we felt this was a streamlined seat compared to it) over the course of a month as my son was growing to the brink of outgrowing his smaller seat, we wanted to keep him rear facing as long as possible for safety.
br /
br /I loved this seat from the day it arrived, it is a nice seat, airport approved, the adjustability, comfort, padding and safety features in a relatively compact package. Compared to a lot of the seats on the market, it has the best mix of comfort, safety and ease of use of all the seats we tried.
br /
br / It was easy to install, both with LATCH or without. I haven't tried it forward facing, but I don't see it being any different, only adding the anchor. The straps are comfortable for my son and we love to drive and know he is doing good from the silence we hear. It is a lot bigger than a standard rear facing seat, but was among the smallest of the safer seats (smaller footprint, but nice and big for the kid) we tested and is not too difficult to get our son in and out. the straps are incredibly easy to adjust when needed and the shoulder pads help line up the straps to put them on and then just pull and you are done! We also live in AZ and it gets really hot here, and I was worried with all the padding it would be too much, but we crank the AC on and there are vents in the back of the seat that are great. He comes out of the seat less sweaty than in his other Chicco infant seat.
br /
br /Overall a great purchase and you will be satisfied and happy making the leap to this seat.

I did a lot of research and narrowed it down between Recaro and Britax. I choose the Recaro. It's a little bit less expensive, I liked the style better... and it does go up just a few pounds and inches more (5-70lbs w/ up to 35 RF vs Britax 33 RF and an Absolute Maximum height of 60 inches (rec. is 50) vs Britax 49). It was a toss up though until I read all the reviews. A lot of people shy away from the Recaro just because it hasn't been around as long in the U.S. and everyone has Britax, but they meet the same standards and pass the same tests. Recaro ranks right there with Britax in other countries... not to mention Recaro makes racing seats so if they are good enough for NASCAR they are good enough for me. I've had this seat for about two months now and my son loves it. I've had minimal problems with the straps and the fabric hasn't caused any issues in the South Texas heat. I did try both out in my vehicle and put my son in both BEFORE buying... Both are big seats, but it has fit fine in all the cars I've had it in so far from a Pathfinder to a little kia rental. Do your research!!! All seats fit different for every car and every child, if you have read all the reviews and have not matched it with your car and child you have wasted your time. I highly recommend this seat.
seat is sturdy, but very large

i bought this seat for my subaru outback, but it totally overwhelmed the space. while the seat felt very sturdy and plush, it wasn't at all practical for my car. if you have an suv, this seat would be a good choice, otherwise, i'd go for something smaller. we ended up getting the maxi cosi priori instead, and it fits very nicely.

This seat is amazing. I was a little uneasy about ordering it as I had not looked at it in person, only online. But going on the reputation of their race car seats, I decided to give it a shot. I am very impressed with the quality and safety features of this seat. Installing was not to difficult. Though an adjustable base would be an added benefit. The belts do tend to twist as stated in the other reviews I read, but this is minor compared to the twisting that happened with the seat I had for my son almost 10 years ago. (The seats sure have come a long way!!) The unsupported side cushions also need adjusting after the baby is in the seat. She does seam to be very comfortable in this seat and sleeps well in it. There is a lot of head support, which I find very important. This seat is well made and definitly worth every penny. We call it her moon seat because it looks as though it would survive a trip on the space shuttle. I would give it 5 stars except for the twisting of the belts and readjustment of the cushion. I truly feel my daughter is very well protected in this seat and altemently that is what it is all about.

Having owned Recaro race seats for my cars, I was a bit biased. For our first child, we first purchased a Britax Marathon for my wife's car (2 years ago), a great child safety seat but has big footprint for a convertible car seat.
br /
br /When it came time to purchase a forward facing seat for my Toyota, I selected the Recaro Young Sport and love it almost as much as my son does. This put Recaro Child Seats on the radar in our house.
br /
br /With the arrival of our second son, we went back into the pool of available convertible car seats. We narrowed our choices down to the new Britax Diplomat and the relatively new Recaro Signo. We could not find the Britax (Aug. '08) to try out, but did find the Recaro Signo. We got the Signo for less than the Diplomat, and I think we got the better of the two. It's a perfect fit for our 5 month old, and can still accommodate my 2.5 year old (if needed). Properly installed, there is still plenty of legroom for an adult in front.
br /
br /I personally like the build quality and the stability of the seat. We are so happy with our choice, that we are about to purchase another Signo for my car.

We shopped around for a car seat for our 8 month old daughter and ended up narrowing it down to the Maxi-Cosi Priori and the Recaro Signo. We actually ended up buying the Maxi-Cosi but when my wife brought it home I didn't fell comfortable with the safety features. The Maxi-Cosi has very stiff foam to protect the child's head from side impact and I felt the foam was so stiff it would do more harm than good. We returned that seat and decided to purchase the Recaro Signo.
br /
br /The Recaro Signo came in the mail and when I opened the box it looked like a chair fit for an astronaut. The chair is so plush I wish it came in adult size. It has thick, luxurious padding all around and excellent side impact protection.
br /
br /As far as our daughter is concerned, she can't get enough of it. She gets the best naps in this seat and falls asleep almost instantly upon being buckled in for a ride.
br /
br /Another plus is the buckle. The buckle takes a firm amount of pressure to release the straps. While some might find this bothersome I think it is a great safety feature because I can rest assured knowing she won't be able to release the straps on her own.
br /
br /Ok, here are the negatives. This chair is big, I mean, really big. Not so much wide, but tall. We drive a 2008 Chevy Tahoe so it's not a small car but I (6'0" tall) can just barely see over the top of the seat if I'm looking over my shoulder to change lanes or reverse. We have found that we really have to rely on our side view mirror because looking beyond the car seat is nearly impossible. We keep the car seat in the center. If you were to put the seat directly behind the driver this wouldn't be a problem but I feel my daughter is safer in the center.
br /
br /The second negative is the warmth of the chair. Its summertime now and we live in Southern California so it can get hot and with all of the plush padding in this seat it looks like it can be a bit warm. Fortunately cars have air conditioning so this is only a problem for the first couple of minutes of a drive.
br /
br /Over all I wouldn't trade this car seat for anything and I've noticed all of our friends and family have been impressed with it. I think you will be too and if you're looking for a good price shop around on line and I think you can find a good deal like we did.

We are 1. neurotic first-time parents and 2. long-time auto racers who know a little about proper safety equipment. We own a very good Britax but needed a second convertible seat for our little one. We are very happy with the Britax and the extensive safety features engineered into it (esp. side impact protection), but we think the Recaro is ever-so-slightly better: even greater side impact protection (esp. around the head), much larger and better-cushioned belt pads, and better air circulation. One month and over 1500 miles later and everyone is very happy with the seat.

Well I have only had this seat for a fews day, so I may need to edit this in the future. Currently I am using it in a small car, rear facing. It is a large seat, but it does fit. The padding and fabric are great feeling, and my son seemed to really like it (he passed out about 5 minutes into the ride). So my two gripes with this seat are the following.. there is a rear cover that you need to remove to adjust the straps - not sure about anyone else but I had a heck of a time removing that. It took my husband and I 20 mins to finally get the thing off. Really it just took a good amount of muscle to pry it free. My second gripe is that the headrest only has one belt loop in it, making it not so adjustable. I ended up having to take it up because at the height it had to be at, my son's whole body was in the headrest. All they need to do is add a few more loops to it and it would be golden. Other than those two things, it is a really nice seat and I am probably going to buy a second one for my other car.

This seat is awesome!!! We looked at a lot of seats and choose this one based on the fact Recaro makes car seats for race cars. It looks really comfortable and easy to adjust. Easy to install after the first time especially if your car has the latch system(first time took about an hour). We have taken it on trips. It is very bulky - may be an issue if you have more than 1 child or a small car. We are extremely satisfied with our purchase and have had it for about 2 months now.
Great deal for the money

This carseat has been my top pick since it's been up for sale. I love the side impact protection (which I've noticed turn into pillows for sleepy babies) and the fact that it is so plush without taking away a lot of space for the baby it sit. The infant pillow doesn't lay against their back (which can cause some bad back sweats) but it actually tucks right along side their thighs, keep any infant sound and secure. The recline is very nice and smooth. It feels like it almost rolls on ball bearings vs. the britax line and how they almost snap back if you're not careful.
br /
br /It is pretty large (not reccomended for smaller cars) and it is heavy (not fun to switch from one car to another) but since it usually stays in one spot, these factors don't make a big difference when comparing it to similar carseats.
br /
br /I have only heard good things about the Signo from parents who have them!

Although a large seat, I have been able to fit it easily(rear facing) in a VW Jetta, Nissan Altima, and Chevrolet TrailBlazer. My daughter loves sitting in it, and because of the high sitting position, I'm sure she'll be able enjoy viewing the road as we travel.
So much better than the rest

I have a 7 month old who is very long/tall. I bought an Evenflo car seat before the Recaro and it took me close to an hour to figure out how to put it in my car. After multiple other problems I returned it and decided to spend the money on either Britax or a Recaro seat. I love the extra padding with the Recaro seat. It took me about 5 minutes to install it without directions. LOVE THIS CAR SEAT!
