My favorite carseat

I would have to disagree with the other review. I own 2 of these and purchased 2 more for the grandparents. The review on consumer reports are GREAT so when we went out to get a toddler carseat we bought one of these, and a Evenflo triumph (also highly rated)(one for each of our cars). I HATE THE TRIUMPH. My son complains his butt hurts. The straps suck. The Alpha Omega is wonderful. It fits in my car as tight as possible. It does not wobble a bit. My husband isnt even able to get it to wobble after we anchor it in. Its very comfortable and my son never complains about his butt hurting. I have since bought another for use for daycare as well as two others for grandparents. The straps tighten easily for us and do not loosen. Its very easy to install if you know anyting about carseats. Theres 2 anchor straps with hooks that hook right into your cars anchor system. As well as one that goes up the back seat to secure the upper portion of the carseat. I recommend it to everyone.
Installation and use do not make you feel safe

I purchased this after analyzing safety reviews on the Natl Highway Safety site and this looked like a good option based on paper. We've been using this for almost 2 years in grandparents' car; they are my daughter's caregivers on weekdays. This review is partially based on our experience using the Britax Roundabout installed in our car.

br /Seat is difficult to install CORRECTLY. Definitely not an easy in/out. (Roundabout is fantastic. Multiple positive experiences to take on airplane, install in rental cars). My husband had to refer to the manual in depth. My father who is a very intuitive and capable man has popped this in and out and he insisted it was properly installed. However, it always wobbles side to side. Sure enough, when my husband checked, it was done incorrectl. Bottom line: its poor design is conducive to user error.

br /Hard to use safely. The straps were difficult to tighten. I have asked my parents many times to make sure straps are snug but they are difficult to pull and they seem to loosen.
br /
br /If you're shopping for something that is more than an occasional use especially in someone else's car (you'll have less control over it to ensure it's correctly installed and used), it is worth the extra premium to get a significantly easier to use seat. You'll worry less and your child will truly be safer. Recently, I was rear-ended in our car which had the Roundabout. While not a catastrophic accident, it certainly makes us rethink whether the extra premium was worth in grandparents' car when we buy one for our 2nd child

This carseat is so fantastic. We bought 2 of them, one for our toddler and one for our 5 month old. Both ages are great for this seat, it is comfortable and my husband says it is really simple to install. As well it was simple to adjust the harness for each of them. It is nicely padded, our daughter says it is very comfortable. I read some reviews that the reclining feature was nice for when their kids went to sleep but if you install it correctly the reclining feature is only to make it fit your car properly and for when it is rear facing, you have it in the recline position...which is nice for when they are asleep their heads are not flopped forward.
br /we bought the seats directly from BabyAge because combined shipping was $7.
br /highly recommend this seat!

when you buy a car seat at a store you have the opportunity to check the manufacture date and decide for yourself if it suits you. when you buy online you depend on the sellers integrity. I was very disappointed to receive a one year old! car seat, without the instruction booklet, without inner wrapping, already assembled...
br /and the most disappointing thing is that I wrote to the sellers costumer service and did not receive any answer, or at least sending me the instruction book.
br /I won`t buy again from this seller.

Cosco Alpha Omega has great safety reviews. That's why I bought this convertible car seat. The other reasons are the price and ease of use.

br /We've had it for a year now, and my 2-year-old son and I are very happy with it. I'm going to buy another one for my 6-month-old daughter when she grows out of her infant car seat.

Can't Be a Booster Seat for Tall Kids, Cleaning Trouble

My husband and I picked this out for our daughter before she was born. The good point of it is it has held her securely. The button to unbuckle it is sort of slippery and loaded with a very strong spring, which means kids can't open it, but it feels nearly like I'm about to tear a thumbnail partway off when I do. Now she is 2 1/2, long-waisted and just short of 3' tall. I am anticipating her outgrowing this seat before she turns 3 because the straps are on the highest notch and her shoulders are a little under an inch below the tops of them. Regarding cleaning it, I don't know if other car seats are like this or not. Our daughter's plastic pants leaked when she was in it and the car-seat pad all around them was soaked all the way through so it couldn't be spot-cleaned. I had to dismantle almost the entire seat--with much difficulty, and a screwdriver, pliers, and paint-scraper (to pry off a latch)--to get the pad off in order to wash it. I'm now looking for a tall, 5-point harness booster seat.
pricey for its quality overall, yet very ergonomically agreeable

though it has shape good to allow ergonomical fit or snugginess around the child, it does come w/ a harness that is average, if not a tad unfriendly. Quality at first glance is more than any lesser brand w/ a similar price tag. You would expect more sturdiness in the material at this level called "Elite"; but it'd slightly disappoint you, the build quality is rather barely above standard. I rate it 4 stars for its ergonomics and hollow seat that caves in, whereas other brand do not have this. I would recommend it to all nevertheless, albeit its price and disappointing build quality.

First one worked fine for newest grandchild so when older grandchild's seat was just too yucky (got it used at least 4 years ago for first grandchild)I just gave in and got her a new one, too. LOVE the way the height adjusts for growing kids. No need to even unLATCH the base! Grandma-mobile now boasts the best 3 seats in town! the best 3 grandkids!

I have owned five of these seats over the course of 4 years. I have found them difficult to install correctly via the seatbelt or LATCH and they must have a towel or noodle to keep them falling over. The harness does not stay where it was adjusted, making it terribly hard to have the child strapped in correctly. Since using the Britax regularly along side the Cosco I've discovered just how much I don't care for this seat.
br /
br /I was in a horrible accident this week and as I was crawling through my overturned van I saw how my children hung. The Britax seats didn't budge an inch, and my children were amazingly calm. The Cosco A/O seats were HANGING. They did not stay secure at all. Although my children were unharmed I was amazed that they were OK! Since I must get new seats now, they will all be Britax Regents or Frontier. Another complaint of the seat is that although law requires only belt positioning after 40 lbs, my children would have been seriously injured or died in a regular seatbelt/booster. I am very thankful I had ordered the Britax Regent only three months ago. They (and God!) saved my girls' lives.
