We have this car seat and an Evenflo Triumph. This was twice the price of the Evenflo, but is sooo much easier to use. Adjustments are simple and it's a snap to install. The belts and the seat padding on the Britax have a more substantial feel to them, and the belts don't tangle as often. We're always fighting with the belts on the Evenflo, but the Britax belts rarely tangle. This may sound petty, but a tangled belt doesn't offer good protection in a crash. My son has used this seat since he was 8 months old and the head wings don't bother him either. As a matter of fact, it gives him a place to rest his head when he falls asleep in the car. Lastly, if you have an older car without LATCH, then a Britax is definitely the way to go. The lock-offs insure the seat will not move more than an inch.

Great car seat!!

First, let me say that it was not easy for us to scrape together the money to buy this seat. $300 is a lot of money, but I didn't feel my daughter's safety in the car was an area to be cheap about. Car accidents are the number one killer of children in America. In upwards of 85% of all car seats are installed incorrectly or misused in some way. No wonder so many kids die every year. Whatever seat you buy, please make sure you get it checked by a CERTIFIED CPST.
br /
br /Britax makes it extremely easy to use their seats correctly. They install like a dream with LATCH or a seatbelt in almost all vehicles and the harness straps are not thin, flimsy and twisty like some other brands. (Evenflow, are you listening??) Britax's "big 3" (Marathon, Decathalon and Boulevard) also allow for rear-facing tethering. Their customer service is excellent, too.
br /
br /The Boulevard has an infinitely adjustable harness which means you do not have to uninstall the seat and re-thread the straps to move the harness height up as your child grows. The True Side-Impact Protection wings (TSIP) protect the child's face/head in the event of a crash. They also give my daughter a great place to rest her head when she naps in the car. The cover is washable and very soft. My daughter has been in this seat since she was 8 months old, and we've not had a single problem with it.
br /
br /Britax's big seats harness to 33# rear-facing and 65# forward-facing. To some this may seem like over-kill, especially those who think it is okay to put their child in a booster seat at 30 or 40 pounds because the laws state you can. Keeping your child RF past 22# is PROVEN to be 4-5 times safer. Keeping your child harnessed past 40# is absolutely safer than transitioning to a booster seat. Please search YouTube for "Kyle David Miller", "Belle's Gift" and "the Importance of Rear-facing". You will never look at a booster seat the same way again, I promise you.
br /
br /Life is short, buy the car seat.

I am very impressed with the Britax Boulevard car seat. I purchased this seat after reading the Wall Street Journal article on seats with side impact protection. The build quality on the Boulevard is extremely high. The materials all feel first-rate and well-built -- much more so than on the infant car seat which it replaces for our family. It is possible (and easy) to secure this seat extremely tightly to our 2003 Toyota Corolla using the LATCH system so that there is almost no wiggle at all in the connections. We have a relatively small car, but this car seat fits in the Corolla without difficulty. Finally, some shoppers may appreciate knowing that this high-quality product is manufactured in the USA (Charlotte, NC) not in China. (Maybe this is why the manual is so much easier to read than was the one for our previous seat.)

We bought this carseat when my son turned 10 months old. We bought it because of the side impact protection, in my opinion every carseat should have it. He is now 3 and he still loves his carseat. It has remained in perfect condition especially for everything we have put it through, it is very easy to change from car to car if needed, the material is easy to clean, and the no-tangle straps are a life saver. I have seen other reviews of people complaining of the strap between the legs not being adjustable but my son is in the 75% height and 50% weight and we have never had any trouble with it and in fact he still has room to grow. Some have even said the wings for the side impact get in the way of the child, my son has never had an issue with them but it is all he knows, infact when he falls asleep they are perfect to rest his head on. The material of this carseat is also breathable so if its hot or your child gets sweaty it will not be uncomfortable. The price of this seat is well worth it my son still has more room to grow in it. We were so pleased we bought one for my daughter when she outgrew her infant carrier. Absolutely no complaints!

I spent several weeks researching carseats from all different sources. (Word of mouth, internet, consumer reports, etc.) Friends said that the cheaper car seats were just as safe and not to spend the extra money for a Britax. Many websites have reviews that have parents saying spending more is worth it. It comes down to a personal choice. While the more inexpensive car seats have to be safety approved they do not feel as secure to me. We drive a SUV and I love the sturdy feel of the Britax car seats. It works great with our latch system and even has an extra tether for rear-facing use. The carseat does not wiggle when pushed. It seems as if it is a part of the vechicle itself. I would not want to take out/reinstall often, so I wouldn't recommend it for those who need a two-vehicle car seat. I would recommend it for those who want to feel like they have bought the best they could for their child. Our 9 month old used it for the first time this past weekend and he loved it! The Boulevard has a nice adjustable head rest that allows a sleeping child neck support. The material is not scratchy or rough like another review stated. It may not be fluffy soft, but it seems very durable and easy to clean, which is important if the child will be eating in the seat.
br /
br /The front harness latch does have a small issue, it does not click loudly like our old Graco infant seat. After reading the reviews, I have made it a habit to make sure that it is latched by giving a firm tug. It has always been latched, I think I am just used to hearing a loud click.
br /
br /Overall, I am very happy with our purchase and will never go back to the other brands for a second car seat.

We bought it since it has great safety reviews but I expected it would be similar to other Boulevard models I saw in the store.
br /So far the light fabric is totally different than photo, and it isn't soft and cozy like other Boulevards. This one is pretty rough, reminds me of fabric used for diaper bags. It is not a solid color either. BabyAge has better picture than Amazon so check it out before you buy. I also found clicking latch to be difficult to work with (doesn't lock each time).

This is the best carseat ever, worth every penny. I love the fact that the seatbelt height can be adjusted without moving the seat out of the car. I also love the circular piece of fabric around the crotch latch - it protects little thighs! This carseat has more padding than any carseat I've ever seen - and my main concern was comfort. It worked great rear-facing and it's really awesome front-facing. I highly recommend this carseat if you can afford it - it truly is worth every penny, considering how long it can be used. I only wish the pink version had been available when we were shopping, but we love this seat.

Very happy - I got what I paid for!

This car seat was SO much easier to install than the Evenflo Titan I had originally bought. I love the adjustable harness, and the seat is very cushy.
br /
br /BTW - it is large, but it fits in the middle of my Toyota Prius just fine. I simply removed the head rest of the middle seat. Having a small car, I also appreciate the side impact protection this seat offers.
br /
br /My two year old loves this seat. I will never purchase a non-Britax seat again. This is DEFINITELY worth the extra money.
br /
br /The instructions are great, too. They feature photographs, not crappy drawings that are hard to follow.
br /
br /I was expecting this seat to weigh a ton, based on some of the reviews posted here. Yes, it is heavier than your average seat, but it's nothing you couldn't easily carry around the block several times. It certainly weighs less than my toddler!

I like this seat. It's very snug rear facing with the seat belt. I did have to use a towel rolled up underneath the seatbase as suggested in the manual to get it to recline at the 45 degree angle in my Murano. Once I did that it would not budge. However, the strap between the legs is short and it is difficult to get at and insert the two leg straps. Sometimes you do not hear the click sound and you have to double check that it is in fact buckled. So there is a slight learning curve, I guess. It definitely takes some time to get used to. I'm going to call the company and ask them about the buckle issue with it not clicking all the time. My husband thinks it's a pain in the butt to get him strapped in especially now that it's winter and you have more clothing with the coat etc. Also, I don't think it's one of those seats that you would want to take out and change cars often. All in all, I do feel that it is a safe seat regardless of the strap issue.

I purchased this for my 10 month old grandson for Christmas and decieded to give it to them as soon as i saw it. We all absolutely love it so far. It's comfortable, and the latch system is so easy to harness them up. Also great for those long rides when toddlers need to sleep, they recline, unlike other seats we've had for my 2 1/2 year old grandson. I would give this an excellant rating and am contiplating purchasing another one for my 2 1/2 year old. It's the best investment you can make as a grandparent to know you grandchildren are riding in a safe carseat gives us some peace of mind. I would definitely say this is the finest carseat on the market. P Jean Ross

I love Britax and this car seat. We have both the Boulevard and the Companion and both of them have their advantage and disadvantage. It is important to follow the installation instructions completely. If you are unable to get a good installation, then take the car seat to your dealership, fire department, police department, hospital, highway council and ask for help.
br /
br /It is important to put your knee in the car seat while pulling the straps instructed so the seat will be a perfect fit to your vehicle. If you are installing using the straps over the back of a third row seat vehicle, make sure you use a towel or some type of covering between the straps and the top of the car seat so you do not harm your seats. If the top of your seat is pulling downward, then you probably have it too tightly. Make sure you use a towel or mat in between the bottom of the car seat and your vehicle seat because if you have leather interior, it will mess up your seats without protection.
br /
br /The straps on the car seat pretty much stays in place without tangling. If by chance it does tangle, it is a much easier fix than the straps on the companion car seat.
br /
br /Yes, it is heavy so once it is in; we try to keep in without moving it. If it is installed on a third row seat, if you have to remove it, try exiting the vehicle through the back than over the second row seats because for us it is much easier.
br /
br /We have never tried the seat as an infant seat or rear facing so I cannot comment on that feature. However, front facing is not a problem and the straps are more than a tight fit. It is very easy to adjust the straps without a hassle.
br /
br /While attaching the latch between the baby's legs, I do not recall hearing a click but I might have but what we do is after we have inserted the clips, we pull on the belt just to make sure it is in.
br /
br /My only gripe is the information booklet. It is impossible or near impossible to remove the installation booklet from the car seat without using scissors because it is designed to remain attached to the car seat but under the seat cover. The remedy I found was to go Britax website, download the PDF manual and read the manual from the computer. When I needed a diagram or specific instructions, I printed the document, took it to my vehicle and fixed the problem.
br /
br /The price for the seats differ based upon the style of the cover. If the cover is a newly released style, then the price will be higher. Older styles are lower but from my understanding the seats are the same. Therefore, you might be paying a higher price for a certain pattern and not the workmanship of the car seat which is more important. If you like a certain style of covering you can always purchase an extra seat cover of the style of your choice. Certain stores have certain patterns as all vendors do not carry the same patterns but again it is the seat cover that is the difference in the cost of the different car seats. Before you purchase the car seat and you want to be certain that the workmanship has not changed, call customer service. They helped me and I am sure that they will help you as well.
br /
br /I feel that this seat is a safe seat and a good seat. It is worth the money because you should not skimp on your baby's safety even with the hassle of installing and carrying this seat from one destination to another.

We had the Britax Roundabout for my son which was an incredible carseat. I swore I would always buy a Britax after that. Since my son just outgrew his seat, we purchased the Britax Boulevard. We have had so much trouble tightening the straps. Once we buckle him in, we pull the strap as much as we can and there is still a lot of give. It just isn't safe. It has been such an ordeal every time we use it. Have any other parents had this issue or do I have a defective seat? Also, as some of the other parents wrote, the bottom buckle does not click and never has. My biggest gripe with Britax is every time I have called them, they have been rude and completely unhelpful. After spending $200-300 on a seat, one would expect customer service to be a little better. I will definitely look for another brand of seat next time.

We purchased this carseat after visiting a baby store and discussing with the sales person - mainly because it's aircraft capable and has a good reputation for safety. We love the latch system on this carseat - it's so easy to install (using LATCH). The chest gaurds are nice as if an accident were to occur, my daughter wouldn't have bruises all over her from the edges of the belts. Another great feature is the belts have lots of slack when you let them out - makes getting your child out of the seat very easy.

br /I've seen several other reviews stating that the extra bit of money is worth it - they weren't lying!!

I think this is a great car seat. Some have said you can't hear the "clicking" of the harness and that is true. I just give it a pull to be sure it is secure but I have always done that even with ones that click the loudest. Our 10 month old son is fine in it. He enjoys his new view of the road. We took a 4 hour trip and he was good the entire ride. Great quality and high safety rating is important and this seat has it. Let's face it. All car seats are cumbersome. They make the back seats smaller, we struggle to get the child in and out (especially when they grow heavier and longer!) and they can be tough to install. Design engineers can't make one car seat to fit all vehicles equally. This one was tough to fit into our Trooper and so was the smaller carrier car seat with base. But it's in and I have confidence in this product. (if you are having a hard time installing any baby seat, take the time and have a professional do it)

Although the Boulevard is a great car seat, this Regal fabric is horrible. It has a raised, checked pattern in the tan areas that is VERY rough on my skin. I cannot imagine it would comfortable at all for a baby. I purchased this seat, and I am returning it the day after I received it. One touch of the fabric was enough for me. The picture simply cannot show the texture. I strongly suggest spending the $80 more to get a another, new fabric line.... preferably one you can actually feel first.

Me and my son both LOVE this seat. It is so comfortable that every time he gets in it he's asleep within 5 minutes! It's like a miracle seat for us! With his last seat he would whine and fuss the whole time in the car and could never get comfortable; with this seat it's the complete opposite.

I'm not a pro but I like this car seat.

First I bought one of those infant car seats with the pumpkin seat, now that was good because of the removable pumpkin seat made it easy to move the baby about after she fell asleep, that ability of course is gone with this seat. Once she grew out of it we bought the Britax. This seat is superior to the other in pretty much every other way. First the installation, if you have the lock rings, this thing is awesome to strap in and get it nice and tight. I never felt like the other one was that tight, but even having it checked, it didn't feel right. This also has a nicer mechanism for tightening baby. It's also got a steel "roll bar" type thing that really makes you feel safe. But you probably know the safety ratings are all tops in class. The only knock against it is no easy place to attach toys or things for baby, of course I haven't done an extensive search for all the Britax Boulevard Car Seat accoutrements. But all together a good seat.

Of course this is a great car seat. That is kind of a given. I do have an issue with it however. Otherwise it's a great seat!

The Boulevard is the most awesome convertible car seat. I love it as much as my daughter. I can get her in and out quickly because the harness straps are so easy to adjust, and I love that they don't get all twisted like with other car seats. The side impact protection feature is fantastic. Aside from making me feel much more comfortable that she's fully protected, it also lets her sleep without her head rolling around.

SOOOOO easy to install. I have never had a car seat so easy to install. It's about as sturdy as you can get. It is big and heavy but not a problem. We have been using this seat since our little one was 4 1/2 months she is 9 months now. It was a big deal moving her to a seat instead of a carrier. Our daughter has been 87th percentile and above since the beginning in height and weight. We thought the carrier would last longer. With that it didn't. She liked riding in the car before the Britax. We installed the seat, we have a 2007 Dodge Caravan w/ Stow and Go. Rear facing the seat is less than generous on leg room. It is ruining our "seat" in the Caravan due to the way you have to run the "tether." Her legs are already bent and she is to stay this way until she is 1? The straps seemed easy enough to adjust. Ha ha, there is a plastic cage that houses a metal bar that the straps attach to you have to fidgit with that all of the time to make sure you are getting the straps as tight as you can. The other complaint I have is the "side impact" cushion moves around, velcro might have been a good option. Finally there is not definite "click" when you insert the harness tabs in the slots. You have to tug on them a lot to make sure you got them in. We have a Dodge Neon that we drive too. We got a Cosco Alpha Omega Elite for it. Our daughter loves riding in it, plenty of room and easy to adjust. If I had it to do all over again, I would get the Cosco for the Caravan. Less money and less fussing all around.

There are 2 flaws, one of them SERIOUS
br /
br /1. One of the car seat LATCH straps is INCORRECTLY routed through one of the harness strap. The LATCH strap forms a loop around the LATCH bar in the car seat. But when I looked at it, the right side strap is ALSO looped around the strap that is part of the harness. So if I attach the LATCH strap to the car's LATCH hook, the strap will be pulling on the harness. The harness will in turn pull on the child's shoulder. BTW, I got mine direct from BabyAge. I have to remove the harness strap to free it from the LATCH loop. I am going to lodge a complaint with Britax (if I can find their customer service number...) Perhaps there is a recall on this in the horizon!

br /2. This is a minor gripe, but I thought it is important. The instruction booklet is hard to read, and is tethered to the bottom of the seat. I guess you are supposed to store it under the cover after reading it. But it will be better if there is a bigger copy for you to read. Furthermore, the pictures in the booklet are so small and so HARD to see! They should really have a bigger and clearer pictures or diagrams. Sometimes the pictures are so "zoomed in" it's hard to tell which part of the car seat it is. Sometimes, the "hand" that is doing the installation is blocking the parts, so you can't see which side is up or down or left or right. Another gripe, the instructions go with steps 1, 2, 3,... but the diagrams are A, B, C... usually it is easier to follow if you have ONE diagram for EACH step, but that is NOT the case here. Just reading the instructions is very frustrating.

Problems with the bottom latch

Thanks for your feedback
This car seat got excellent reviews and high safety ratings, which is why we purchased it. However, I've had continual problems with the bottom belt fastner for the hips. It's hard to get the clips in securely and there have been times even when I thought that it was latched and I heard it click that I have stopped to take my son out and one of the latches has popped out. Therefore, this car seat doesn't feel very safe to me because I simply can't get the latches to stay latched. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem or not. I would definitely not spend the kind of money we did again on a Britax. There are other car seats out there with the same safety ratings and are probably safer for my child!

Shipper problem not product problem

My issue was with the shipper Babyage not with the product. I do see some of the concerns that other reviewers have with the size. I live in NY and so I rent cars when we travel but so far have not had a problem with the seat being too big (1 for 1). I like the seat overall.

br /Babyage was unable to ship the seat in time for my trip. I contacted their customer support on a Wednesday and was told I should select ground shipping, that because I was so close it would arrive next day anyway, Friday at the latest. Friday morning I called again for the tracking info and they told me it hadn't shipped because they needed more info from me. I was not contacted by email or phone at all and was left with no car seat for the weekend trip. It may be my fault for not following up at every step of the process but I was still disappointed...
