While we know about the weight-limit constraints...this product is great, especially for someone with chronic pain or physical difficulty getting a child into carseat.
br /
br /I had my eye on this product for awhile. I did a lot of research online and was saddened to see that the weight-limit issues detered anyone from really reviewing it -- missing the fact that a parent with physical limitations could really benefit from using it.
br /
br /Well, I have a lot of weakness and muscle pain in my arms and back so I bit the bullet and bought it anyway. It is quite a pleasure to be able to turn my daughter toward me to get her into the seat. I even will sit beside her (in a parked car) and turn her toward me to feed her snacks or give her a bottle.
br /
br /I did not have problems with installation. I'm not thrilled with the ease of loosening and tightening the straps --- but that is really my only complaint.
br /
br /One point: I believe the instructions say to use the grey infant pad when rear facing. Well, I couldn't get my 5-month-old, 14 lb daughter into the seat with the pad. I called the customer service line at Combi and the rep said it is only to help a baby fit -- and if the baby is rear facing, but too big for the pads, take them (the pads) out.
br /
br /And when Combi increases the weight limit, I will buy a new one too.

The car-seat is huge! We have a Mazda 5 van and we have to have the drivers seat all the way forward and my husband is 6'2". So thats not working. It obstructs my view when I turn around to see out the back. You cant use a mirror to see the baby the seat is too large.
br /
br /The straps are too wide for my 6mo. old in rear facing. He has a long torso and the shoulder straps come from his mid back on the highest one allowed in rear facing. also the chest clip seems to be flimsy and cheaper plastic than our combi infant carrier.
br /
br /When he falls asleep his head is slumped forward because it is not reclined enough. Even we practiced forward facing and the difference in reclining mode is a joke.
br /
br /The loops on the side to tether the buckles so you don't sit the baby on them only works when you have a big baby and the straps are long enough to reach, ours don't.
br /
br /Basically all the bells and whistles I spent a little more for are not working for me. Aside from the side loading feature.
br /
br /The fabric is nice and most of the materials seem great quality. (except noted above)
br /
br /I am still on the fence about returning it. Its not really working out for us. I say that out of the luxury and features I purchased it for. Not its actual purpose, keeping my precious cargo safe.
br /
br /I would not recommend buying it online. I learned my lesson that some items need to be tested out first.

Our baby loves this car seat. We started off with a different one and she was so uncomfortable in it. Cried!!! With this one she has actually smiled a couple of times when she is put in it. Very padded. The turn option is awesome since our backs are bad and we have a large SUV. Is a bit bulky. Wouldn't fit in our sports car. But totally worth the money. Easy to figure out and straps NEVER tangle. Five stars!!!

I purchased this carseat for my 8-month-old son. It is easy to use and very convenience to put the baby in the car because the seat can rotates facing you. The downside of this combi is heavy and I feel it is bigger than usual car seat.
Amazing carseat!

We purchased this carseat in Japan and brought it with us back to USA and could not be more pleased with the performance and LOVE LOVE LOVE the turn rotation feature as it makes putting a child in and out of seat a lot easier! Brilliant concept. But then my Wife Loves everything for baby that COMBI makes from twin strollers that are lightweight, to the Combi wipes warmer! This carseat is wonderful especially if you have special needs like we do with arthritis or anything like that. The ONLY downside is OUR combi carseat weighs a ton and is sooo very heavy! Otherwise it is AAA+++ all the way!

This is the safest, most comfortable-looking car seat I have ever seen. Whenever my daughter fell asleep in her infant seat, her head would flop and slump all over the place, but in this seat, it hardly moves at all! It has lots of swishy, removable padding, and I love that you can recline it smoothly while the child is in it. It's also narrow enough that we can have it right up against our other child's car seat. Even with them right next to each other, the seat still rotates quite a bit, making loading unloading very easy. The only down side - it is so tall when rear-facing in our Exlorer that it it a bit difficult to check the blind spot. BUT when we use it in our Camry, it doesn't obstruct our view at all. Must be a different seat angle.
Sooo worth it!

Great! The swivel alone makes the seat worth it's weight in gold, but the look, feel, and ease of manipulation are all icing on the cake! It's heavy, it's tall - who cares. It's the easiest way to get a kid in and out of a car, and your kid will love you for it. Brilliant Combi!

installation isn't the easiest part.
br /Lack of clear explanations on how the seat moves..
br /It is an heavy car seat, but once installed what a difference!
br /Great seat, smart move (once understood), i would definitively recommend.

I really like this car seat. It looks comfortable and my son seems to like it. He is only 3 months old but is big for his age. I couldn't carry him in the infant seat anymore so i bought this convertible.
br /
br /I had read that is was too big but tried it anyway. I can see out the review mirror without any trouble in my Tahoe. Also Joey sits up high and can see out the windows. When he falls asleep his head does sometimes fall forward. I guess when they are this young the only seat that prevents this is an infant car seat. The turning feature does make it easier to get Joey in and out.
br /
br /It is very heavy and I wouldn't take it when traveling. We bought a lighter less expensive seat for our other car and that is what we use on trips.

Following weeks of pondering whether I should purchase such an expensive infant seat for my 13mo daughter, I finally caved in and purchased it for one reason alone; the swiveling feature. I have a bad neck and I constantly seize up my neck when I use it in a non-natural position. One of those is putting in an infant into a forward facing seat, especially when the infant is asleep. Anyhow, I got the seat, installed it with amazing ease via the latch system (I drive a 2004 Grand Jeep Cherokee Laredo) and am amazed how easy wonderful this seat is to use. My daughter LOVES it and the swivelling feature has surpassed my expectations. It truely is a lifesaver for me. One thing I'd like to point out is that my daughter only weighs 22lbs and the company recommends using the infant inserts. I found this impossible as (a)her shoulders come above the last slot for the belts and (b)her ears are folded forward with the insert for the headpiece. Otherwise, go for it, the seat is totally worth every penny!!!
wish my driver seat would do the same

good padding. I can see my 9 month old daugther is comfortable in it. So easy to put her in and take her out. No wrestling. This is worth the money. So what if the weight is up to 40lbs.... either way you're going to have to upgrade the seat anyways. Hopefully Combi will make the next seat the same way. I am really happy with this seat. Clever. BUY IT.
Love it!

I have severe arthritis in my back and this is the only car seat that has allowed me to safely, and painlessly, place my children in their car seats. I highly recommend it to anyone who experiences difficulty or pain placing their children in their car seats.

This car seat is amazing. It is worth every extra penny! It makes life so easy and the transition from infant to toddler was a breeze. My child is so comfortable and I love the rotating feature. It is so easy to get my child out of the car now and there is no extra strain on my back like with other car seats. I can't give this car seat a high enough recommendation. It is incredible.

"This car seat could have been brilliant but Combi was NOT thinking at all. It only rear-faces to 22 lbs? Everybody else is moving toward higher weights of 35-40 lbs. Plus, with only harnessing to 40 lbs forward-facing it's a complete waste of money. You're better off with a Britax Marathon, or even the Roundabout."

br /This mama has said it. Rear facing only to 22lbs is just merely a bare minimum. Doesn't your kid deserve MORE? I know mine dose, and it cant be done in this seat! Ditch the bare minimum and get your kid a seat with an above and beyond safety standard they deserve.
