I absolutely recommend this infant seat! My son is almost 1 now and I am still using this seat. It is fabulous for it's fabric options of colors and most importantly for it's roominess. My son is on the chunky side, being an exclusively breastfed baby. He is still quite comfortable in this seat and I love being able to just attach him to the stroller as i walk my 4 year old into her her preschool. The travel system as a whole catches the eyes of many and I am always stopped by people saying.."what a ride!". Well it is, quite a ride. If you buy this car seat, it will last you for the entire FIRST YEAR of your baby's life. Thank you Graco!

For our first baby, we had a top-rated infant car seat made by Century. We did not like the fact that our baby was not leaning back properly and her head was always hanging to the front. Then we got the SnugRide as a hand-me down from a friend. It was ok, but outgrown too fast, so we lost the convenience of just taking her out of the car in the car seat instead of having to wake her up. LAst year we had our second baby and after using these two car seat for about a week (one on each car), my husband decided he hated them both and went and got this Safe Seat and two bases. Wow! What a difference. It is very comfortable. Our son fitted just right and seemed very comfortable. It is so easy to install and adjust. Our son is now 14 months, 31 inches long and 25 pounds and we are still happily using it... probably for another month when he reaches the limit. We are super happy with this purchase.

This is a great car seat. I recently bought this one, it is cute for a boy or girl.
br /
br /Travel. I took my child in a plane for travel I used the Graco car seat bag for the valet check, it worked great. I did not take the base with us and it fit safe and secure in the car using the seat belt. It was a little tricky since the belt strap has to go over the car seat, it was easy with two people one on each side it took less then a minute to secure.
br /
br /I also bought the Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame. They work great together. Just a couple problems. 1. If you put coffee in the cup holder and go over a bump it could spill on your child. 2. If you have a diaper bag you want to put on the bottom of the stroller, put it in before you put attach the car seat. Otherwise then that, it is fast to open and to travel with.
br /
br /
br /Note about the base, it is easy to adjust. However, if you have a car with leather seats it is difficult to secure the base. With the use of a non slip rug mat between the seat and base along with a cut up noodle (yes the ones you use in the pool) it was secure. I learned this trick from a fireman who installed the car seat for my 2 year old.
br /
br /Working with a double stroller by BOB. I also recently bought a Bob Revolution stroller with car seat attachment. Some of the other carseats that work with the BOB stroller requires the back of the stroller to be adusted down (this would mean that everytime you open the stroller it would have be adjusted). I did not have to do this for this carseat, just pop it in and attach the strap and go.
br /
br /I am very pleased with my purchase.

I wish we would have just gotten this one to start with. We got the Graco Travel System with a Snugride seat for our shower and that worked great - but it's not meant for bigger babies. I really like the fact that we can use this one (hopefully) until our son is 1 year old. It is so much easier to transport him to and from the car and in and out of stores when he is in his carseat.
br /
br /This carseat works great with our Graco stroller and the pattern, while it doesn't match the Bancroft pieces that we have exactly, is still close enough that it doesn't clash.
br /
br /My only real complaint is that we needed all new bases. It would have been so much easier if this seat fit on the Snugride base. Oh well.
br /
br /Overall, though, we love it. And I've read other reviews that complain about how heavy the seat is; I just don't think it's that different from the snugride. I mean, we have a 20 pound baby in it, and then the carseat weight itself is in addition to that, so it's a bit to lug around, but I don't find it more cumbersome than just a regular infant carseat.

First of all I want to say the ONLY reason I give this seat a 4 out of 5 stars is b/c of the size. This thing is huge. However, I do like the design and safety features and after reading all the reviews and comparing it to other infant seats, I feel the best about this one. I had an older graco one that was a lot smaller but this one has way more padding and the fabric is easier to clean. I really am super happy with this purchase, it just takes up a lot of room in our van!

We started out using the Graco Snugride for our son. He is approaching the time when he is going to outgrow that car seat and we looked to Graco for the next appropriate car seat because we really like our current one and we know that Graco makes very safe car seats. This is a rear-facing car seat and is much larger then the Snugride. The car seat itself is really comfy looking. The seat is super soft and a lot more padded then the SnugRide. I bet my little guy will love this! I wish I had known about this car seat originally, because it can be used on newborns and has a higher weight/height/age threshhold that it can be used until. With the SnugRide, we could easily take the whole seat out of the car if our son fell asleep in it and take him in the house without disturbing him. Because this car seat is bigger and heavier, I forsee it staying in the car and taking our son out and either carrying him or using our umbrella/lightweight stroller to get out and about. Another small setback is that it comes with a different base to install in your car. No big deal, but if you've already bought an extra SnugRide base for a second car, you'll have to do it again for this car seat. If I had bought this car seat originally, I wouldn't have run into this small snag. Live and learn!

This is a great infant seat. My daughter is currently 17 months 22 pounds and 31 inches and we are just now starting to research her next step car seat. The seat fit very well in my old Jetta, my husband's 2 door Honda and my current Saturn vue. We've also used it in my mom's ford, MIL mini van and GPIL old truck as well as various rental cars while on vacation. Only my husband has a hard time getting it in and out of the car, but it is a 2 door, so I don't know that a smaller seat would make that any easier. We use LATCH with a base on my and my husbands car, and just the lap belt with no base on all the other cars we have used. It's easy enough to strap in using the seat belt, though I feel that straight lap belts seen to give a better fit than those with a shoulder strap. This seat will fit onto any Graco stroller, as well as lots of other brands of strollers to make an impromptu travel system, so just test it out in the store and you will probably find one that fits. The material is easy enough to wash, though my daughter seems to get a sweaty head pretty quickly in the summer. The harness is easy to snap together and adjust, as are the shoulder belts. I only had to move the shoulder belt height 1 time and that was quite easy to accomplish. She actually isn't even on the highest setting yet, but I'm ready to get her into a convertable booster even though she hasn't technically outgrown the seat yet, she's close enough, plus she has long legs and they're strting to get to the point that she has to bend them against the seat back so I want to get her into a bigger seat. Overall, I think this would work for most babies up to and past their 1st birthday. We've gotten 17 great months worth of use out of it, and we're able to skip the purchase of a convertable seat because she doesn't have to sit backwards anymore.

br /This is one of my best purchases ever. This car-seat is not much heavier than Chico or any other brands. I have been managing carrying it with a baby pretty well (I am 5'5", 120 lbs lady). It has a side protection, head support, very convenient adjustable harness (they are not twisting, easy locking/unlocking, has three steps to adjust for different age...). I would like my baby to stay in an infant car-seat as long as it is possible, I would like to hold off dealing with convertible car-seats as long as it is possible. My baby is 1 year 2 months, he weights 26 lbs (pretty big boy) - but he still fits this car-seat perfectly. He likes it very much! We have already purchased a convertible RECARO Signo, but do not rush to install it into the car. I love this Graco Safe Seat as I can grab my little one being in the car-seat and place into a shopping cart for just one sec. I love it b/c of three different ways to install it - latch system, belt with base or belt without base. I prefer to use the base - one click and you are ready to go! At the same time if it turns that my husband or nanny has to pick up the child, I don't need to worry about a car-seat. They can use it without the base easily. I saw bad reviews on this Safe Seat car-seat in the baby bargain book and still do not understand why this great product was given such a low mark "C"...Well, go figure... I also forgot to mention that this car-seat is usable with no problem with almost any strollers you see in the market. If you are a decent person, with two hands, two legs, in a good healthy shape and looking for a great car-seat which is worthy the money - Graco Safe Seat is for you (and your little one). Based on my experience - it is a very good car-seat and I will definitely recommend it to everybody! Thanks.

br /
br /Cons:
br /Have to be a little careful when the clip-in portion (which is made of metal)is released.
br /Little on the unwieldy side and needs the front seat on a mid-sized sedan (Honda Civic 2007) to be pushed well up front in order for the baby seat to fit in the back.
br /Some options such as loosening the straps not very intuitive

After much research on-line, I went to the store to see for myself before settling on new seat for baby number four. The Graco Safe Seat was by far the nicest seat there. It has wonderful padding which by far exceeded any other seat, you can tighten or loosen the seat belt by pulling a strap or pushing a button on the front of the seat, the carry handle moves very easily without any chance of it moving by mistake, the seat snaps into and out of the base beautifully, and don't be fooled - all infant seats weigh about the same and yes they all feel heavy when you add a baby's weight to them. You do have to change the position of the shoulder straps from the back, but I can tell you from experience that you will need to take it apart to clean it more often then you will have to worry about moving the shoulder straps so it is no big deal. And, knowing that there is pretty much zero chance my baby will outgrow this seat before I am ready to move her to a forward facing seat means I won't have to buy a convertible seat. Also, the seat belt latch is of much better quality then some of the other seats I looked at and it works very easily.

This is a great carseat, it's one of the top safety rated seats, and that's why I got it. The only problem with it is that it's very large. We drive a Subaru Forrester ('02) and the only place the seat would fit was in the middle of the backseat. Now most of you know this is where they recommend you put a car seat, so it worked out fine, but you'll want to make sure this will fit in your car before you purchase.

I ordered this seat to replace the SnugRide we had for our last baby. The SnugRide did not fit into the Quattro Double stroller very well even though it is advertised as compatable. This seat fits in perfectly and this seat is MUCH more padded than the SnugRide seat. At first I wasn't sure about purchacing another seat when my old one was still good, but I am SOOO glad I did! This seat is MUCH better and seems more comfortable, has better fabric, and the base is much easier to use with the dial height adjustment. Well worth the money -- plus it goes farther in weight (30 lbs instead of 22) so it is good if you have large babies (like I do).
What Graco Means by "SafeSeat"

The most compelling thing I can mention as a reason to buy this seat is a detail that gets tucked away in the rest of the marketing material: this seat is engineered to double the required crash test ratings.
br /
br /The car seat industry is only required to meet a fairly low standard to be able to sell their product, and they're not required by law to reveal the results of their crash tests, so no one does.
br /
br /That's why it's refreshing that Graco has an offering marketed to be safer for your baby! That's what "SafeSeat" means.
br /
br /Other than that, I only sort of like the car seat. The LATCH hooks are less user friendly than the buckles of our old Chicco car seat base, and though this seat is designed to support babies up to "30 pounds", our tall 9-month old is pushing the limits of the slack in the safety belt.
br /
br /I also don't like the levelling system of the base, or the cheap "level" (really a free floating plastic dial) to indicate the seat is at the proper angle once installed.
br /
br /The design of the seat would only earn three stars, but the safety factor of the car seat earns it one extra.
br /
br /I'd certainly recommend the seat overall, and would definately purchase again.

This is a great infant seat. The bases are very affordable and the attchment is a SNAP, literally. We purchased four. One for each parent and grandparent making switching cars very convenient. Five point harness really secures baby. We purchased an infant head cushion to really secure the baby's head and it fit right into the existing head rest.
br /
br /We also have the Graco stoller and the carseat snaps right in so we do not have to unstrap the baby to put her in her stroller. This is the best.
br /
br /The seat is a little heavy, (and gets heavier as the baby grows),but we do not usually have to carry it very far. My daughter is under 5 feet tall and she manages it with no problem.

My daughter LOVES this car seat.
br /
br /We had a Graco SnugRide when we had my first son and he loved it. My parents gave me a different SnugRide with a matching double stroller when we had my second son. He hated the car seat. He would cry from the second we put the car seat with him in it in the car to the second we took the car seat out. My M-I-L said it was because he didn't like riding backward. Sure enough when we switched him to the Britax when he was 20 lbs and a year old he was fine.
br /
br /My daughter used the same SnugRide as my second son for her first 4 months. She did the same thing, she cried from the second I put her in the car to the second I took her out. I mean really crying. It was awful. We drove 5 hours for a summer vacation and we couldn't take it. Not even sitting next to her distracting her helped. My M-I-L said she was the same as my second son but this time I wasn't so sure.
br /
br /I read all the reviews on Amazon for cheap car seats all the way to the super expensive ones. The SafeSeat had the best reviews so we went ahead and ordered it and had it shipped to our hotel 2nd day for only a few dollars extra.
br /
br /Well she LOVES it. She is content to ride in it and sometimes even falls asleep in it. What a huge difference. Riding in the car is pleasant for everyone now :).
br /
br /Maybe the second SnugRide was just uncomfortable. It didn't feel bad there was nothing poking her, but there must have been something, maybe the way she rested in it. Not sure. My poor second son.
br /
br /Anyway, we love this car seat. The only thing we don't really like is the plastic window in the canopy that allows you to see the baby. I get why it is there but right now it is summer and the poor sun beats down on her little head, so we just cover it with a blanket. Problem solved.
br /
br /So we love this car seat. It seems more roomy and we like the color. It doesn't get super hot when we leave it in the car since the padding and the straps are a silver color and not black like the last two Graco's we had. I highly recommend it.

We bought this seat fo baby #3 to replace the SnugRide we loved for our first two. Both of our girls had to move up to a convertible seat by 6 months, and we are hoping to avoid that this time around. This seat is HUGE, so I suspect we will make it, but it comes with the associated trade offs. It is heavy, even empty. So as your baby grows, you will need to throw it in a stroller or leave it in the car if you are taking it any real distance. But for me, having the option to leave a sleeping baby in the bucket, far outweighs any inconvenience caused by the weight.
br /
br /Things I was worried about:
br /
br /It does not fit that great in grocery carts...but it does fit and I feel relatively safe with him in it (he doesn't like the angle it keeps him at, however, so we don't do long trips together).
br /
br /It works fine in the Kolcraft Snap N Go.
br /
br /It is not too big for newborns...in fact, he looked more snug than either of my first two in their SnugRide.
br /
br /It does what I wanted it to do (eliminate the need for me to have 2 different rear facing car seats, and provide me with a place to keep a sleeping 8 month old if I need one), so I would buy it again but if you are a person that likes to be able to carry the bucket around or want to be able to put it in shopping carts, I'd try it out in a store first.

I love my new car seat. This is the third infant carrier I've owned and it is by far my favorite. Things I love about it - easy to adjust strap tightness, fits infants to 30 lbs., seems comfortable to infant, easy to clean fabric, light color to reflect light, infants head doesn't flop when sleeping, comfortable handle, easy to put into and get out of car, carseat base secures into car well, great price for quality, can be used with our old double graco stroller although it fits very tight. Things to consider - it is bigger than other carseats (but it still fits in our Camery with backless booster seat on each side, it was difficult to buckle in a newborn since the chest buckle is so big. I don't think it's too heavy or big to carry around. I'm very happy with the quality of the safe seat.

Graco Safeseat pretty much guarantees you will not need another rear facing carseat for your baby. It is good until 30 lbs and 36 inches, that should take care of 99% of infants. I love the adjustment for the straps in the front, because you can easily adjust the straps so your infant is snug. They really squirm around a lot in the beginning and this makes it easier. The carrier and base seems to be type of infant seat that parents like best. The carrier does get heavy, but you can eventually leave the carrier in the car and place your baby in it in the car. at least you don't need to buy another rear facing carseat. After they reach at least 1 year and 20 pounds they can be turned forward facing and you can usually find them a second carseat that they can use until they are out of a carseat.

This has been an excellent infant seat for our baby! It's easily adjustable, roomy, and nice to look at. I'd buy another one if I needed too! The only down to this one is it's weight. We purchased this seat because we needed to replace an expired hand-me-down. The roomier size appealed to us, as our daughter is in the 90th percentile for height at 5 months of age. I have one minor complaint- I have trouble getting the clip across her chest undone at times. You need to really squeeze the plastic to get it to budge- a bit of a pain if you have a fussy baby. Otherwise, the seat is easy to use and she seems quite comfortable.

I have to say that this is a GREAT car seat! I have a 3 year old that we had spent extra $$ on buying her a Combi infant car seat in hopes of letting our future kids use it. And unfortunately when I took it down to wash for my son (while pregnant) the padding dissolved. So the search began for a new seat. I originally bought the Baby Trend and felt that it was cheap and too small (my son was 8+lbs on the ultrasound before delivery) so I took it back and found the SafeSeat. This seat is great because my rather large infant has time to grow into it (he is 16+ lbs and just turned 4 months) since the weight limit is around 30lbs instead of 23lbs, it is cute as can be, and he loves it. Only complaint is it is Heavy - but is that my son or the seat? :)

Our baby boy has never been little, we started out w the graco snugride but by 3 mos our son was at the 22 lb limit. We liked the convenience of the detachable seat and decided to get the safeseat. Im so glad that we did and now our son can still see us while in his graco stroller and we dont have to wake him if he falls asleep in the car. I reccomend this carseat to those with older babies because the head support isnt as great as the snugride. It was easy to install in the car and there is a great feature that keeps the seatbelt in place across the base if your car doesnt have anchors. All in all this seat has been great.
Safe and easy to use!!

I think that this is a good buy. I like the fact that you can level it well within any vehicle. I like that the harness is very secure, but I have heard this being explained as hard to work with... I think that it is a perk for it not be unfastened easily like it was oiled with WD40. I love the colors and the fit.

THis car seat is great! I love that you can use the infant seat until the baby is about a year old! Infants seats are so nice because you can carry the baby around from the house, to the car, clip in to the stroller and more! The seat is roomy, too.

After searching and searching for a car seat we felt comfortable with, we decided to buy the infant safe seat by Graco. As new parents of twin baby girls, I just knew that I would get stuck carring both car seats and to my surprise, the were very light even with the girls strapped in. The only drawback that was easily fixed and not the manufactures fault was that my girls were very small at birth (4lbs 12oz and 4lbs 2oz). We placed a blank underneath the car seat padding to help boost them up a bit. Other than that, we are completly satisfied.

We purchased this Graco seat for our second child after being very happy with another Graco infant seat for our first child over 6 years ago. It is considerably larger - length, width, and weight than the previous SafeSeat styles. Our baby fit in it well, but my husband and I both struggled with the weight of the combined baby and carseat by the time our son was 8 months old. Because of this, we switched over to a convertible seat at 9 months, making the extra $$ we paid for the large size worthless. Keep this in mind if you foresee carrying/transporting your baby around a lot. This is a very heavy car seat.

This car seat is so much prettier than what it looks like online. I thought it was just solid gray, but it has a baby blue diagonal criss-cross pattern. And the darker gray areas are super soft. It also holds up to a 30 pound baby, so hopefully it will save me from having to buy a convertable seat at 8 months like I did with my daughter even though she was only about 15 pounds at the time.

br /The seat is very easy to install and the straps glide very easily. For girls, there is now a beautiful pink Safeseat, but I guess since I have this one, it will have to do...

THIS SEAT IS VERY NICE, I LIKE THE FACT THAT IT HAS AN INDICATOR SO THAT YOU CAN TELL IF IT IS INSTALLED PROPERLY. iT CAN GET BE HEAVY AS YOUR BABY GROWS BUT IT WORTH IT WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY. I WOULD RECCOMMEND IT TO ANY MOM!
It's roomy. . .

I bought this carseat because it was roomy for my son. However, the carseat was too big to take shopping or restaurants. When my son was a newborn and I went shopping the carseat could not fit on the cart. At restaurants it would not fit in the high chair because it was wide for it to lock in. Also, I am 5'2 it is a heavy item and with the baby it feels even worse. I do like it on how comfortable it is for my son, since i am a mom on the go, I do not recommend it.

Love this carseat and the fact that it will grow with baby and actually last until one year old! Wish I would have had it for the first kiddo!

I had this seat in the color fusion. The baby fit great in it and seemed really comfortable. I loved not having to take him in and out of the carseat to shop.

br /3 months after he was born, he was 15 lbs. Add that to the already 10 lb carrier and man was I struggling to carry him. We ditched the carrier and went to a regular seat. I would probably buy it again if we were having another child but I'd really have to reconsider due to the weight of the empty carrier.
