I purchased two safeseat step 2 toddler seats in stellar. Several weeks after our purchase we took the cover off of one and found that a large chunk of the "saftey foam" came off too. We figured it might have been that way from shipping and had the seat replaced. However, with the next seat we had them placed in the middle and door seat in a Durango. An adult leaned over the middle seat,to reach the door seat, and the foam popped off of that seat too. The foam is bulky and easy to damage, in our opinion. Also our two yr olds had no leg room in the first row of our 04 Quest if either front seat reclined.

I absolutely love this car seat for several reasons:
br /1. Most importantly, it is safe. The consumer reports I read gave it good marks.
br /2. It is sooo easy to install and it doesn't move once installed.
br /3. It is easy to adjust the straps. This is important because some clothes he wears are bulkier than others.
br /4. It is easy to recline. We went on a 10 hour trip with my 1year old. He did great. When he was sleeping, I would reach back and recline him. When he woke up, I reached back and sat him upright. All without having to stop and get him out to adjust it.
br /5. It is cushiony and comfortable. My son has no complaints while riding.
br /6. It is easy to readjust the harness through the threads. Since you can recline it so much, you have more room to maneuver in the back of the seat.

br /The issue with the foam that people complain about can happen with a lot of different car seats because so many of them use foam.

As with the other review on this car seat, after about two months of use, the foam on one side broke off of the car seat. I am now having to deal wtih trying to return it or exchange it but would rather get a different seat altogether.

I like this car seat, even though the material is not the best, because it provides a good support for my daughter when she fall into sleep in the car. I also like the reclining feature, which help her sleep better during a trip.

br /The minor item I don't like about this car is the cup holder. It occupies too much space on the side. Well, this is a minor issue.

This car seat works well for us. We've used this car seat for about 4 months and my daughter loves it! She is normally very restless on long car rides and gets cranky when it's nearing her nap time or if she's bored. But in this car seat, she just falls asleep when it's near her nap time -- no fuss at all!

I absolutely love this seat. Not only is very soft and cushy, it was super-easy to install, and it reclines so far back that when my son falls asleep, his head does not fall forward. It is the perfect seat for babies (like my son) who frequently nap in the car!

My daughter, who happens to be named Bailey (coincidence) absolutely LOVES this chair. It is so comfy AND it reclines so she can really gets some rest on those long trips. It was super easy for me to install.
