It is number one, of the four high-back toddler booster seats CR tested, and is recommended best for safety and ease of use. It weighs only 9 lbs (others weighed up to 15 lbs), performed excellently in the crash tests and was rated excellent overall. They rated the latch connection/belt system on this as excellent and gave a very good rating to the belt system that restrains the child in the seat. If the price had been lower, it would have been their quick pick item, of the four tested.

MY SON IS VERY BIG AND HAS BEEN IN A BOOTSTER SEAT SINCE HE WAS JUST OVER 2. HE WAS 35LBS. HE IS NOW ALMOST 5 YEARS OLD AND 55LBS 45 IN. TALL AND HAS PLENTY OF ROOM AND IS VERY COMFORTABLE IN THIS SEAT. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM INSTALLING IT LIKE THE ONE PERSON SAID, 2 PEOPLE TO INSTALL IS REDICULOUS TO ME, I HAVE DONE IT MY SELF EVERYTIME I MOVED IT. THE CUP HOLDER MY SON LOVES TO KEEP HIS DRINK IN THERE AND IT DOESN'T TIP FOR HIM EITHER. HE NOW USES THE REGULAR SEATBELT OVER THE SEAT AND IT IS STILL A GREAT CAR SEAT FOR HIM. OTHER BOOSTER SEATS SIT VERY STRAIGHT AND UPRIGHT AND WHEN HE'D FALL ASLEEP HIS HEAD WOULD FALL FORWARD WITH THE REST OF HIS BODY, BUT WITH THIS ONE HIS HEAD JUST FLOPS TO THE SIDE AND RESTS ON THE SIDES. THE PILLOW IS THE ONLY PART OF THE SEAT I DON'T LIKE, BUT HE HAS NEVER MISSED IT.
THIS IS A GREAT SEAT! I'M BUYING ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER SOON TOO!

I registered for this car seat. I was very concerned when I read the review that said Consumer Reports reccomends not buying this seat. So I looked it up. Go to consumerreports.com and click on car seats then booster seats. The Eddie Bauer (Cosco) High-backed Booster Seat (this one!) got an over-all rating of very good to excellent and scored either very good or excellent in EVERY category. Consumer Reports says this is a GREAT car seat!!! I am glad I "did my research".

I purchased this carseat from a different retailer other then Babies R Us/Toys R us. It is a relativley decent seat. My son is 2 1/2 and we needed another seat because we bought a second car. For 2 1/2 he is a good size and I wasn't sure how big/small he would be in the seat. I couldn't believe when we finally used it for the first time, he looked so small sitting in it!! There is plenty of room for a growing toddler. The cup holder comes in very handy and my son is getting the hang of using the holder instead of throwing his cup on the floor!! The one bad thing I have to say about this seat is that the straps swist badly. I was not used to this at all since our other carseat is a Britax and the Britax straps are non-twisting. The latch is a bit different with two pieces locking into each other in order to click into the bottom buckle piece. There is also two plastic clip pieces on either strap that clip together and can be moved to a comftorable position on your child. It does not seem like a system that a child can easily figure out how to manipulate. All in all it is a decent seat, except for the straps. If you can live with that, or it's not a big deal for you, this seat would be a good option.

My husband and I decided to purchase this car seat when our one year old daughter grew out of her Eddie Bauer Infant Carrier. We trust Eddie Bauer products; their products are safe, they are a good quality company, and their products have a sophisticated look. As our car was manufactured prior to 2002, the LATCH system wasn't installed in our car. This was not a problem at all; we took the car seat to our local fire department and a certified fireman was able to install our car seat for us. It took a lot of muscle and effort to get it in, but it is in so tight; it doesn't budge! (Which is how you want your car seat to fit) We felt all the more confident in this particular car seat, as Tony, the fireman that helped us, owns this exact model and uses it for his children! Our daughter loves her car seat; she is adorable in it! I would recommend this product to everyone looking for a new car seat! It will hold our daughter all the way through the booster years... up to 80 pounds! It is well worth the inexpensive price! BUY IT!

We purchased this seat for my mother who regularly babysits her two toddler grandchildren (2 years and 18 months). For a car seat, it was fairly easy to install. My husband did it in less than 10 minutes. When using the LATCH system this seat DOES NOT MOVE- not an inch. My mother is in her late 50s and finds it easy to get the kids in and out and can adjust the straps easily to accomodiate the child she has with her at the time. The pillow seems worthless for sleeping, but our daughter likes to play with it. We are now expecting our second child and have added this seat to our registry. Overall we think it's a great value.

I have been looking for a booster car seat for my Grandson who is 19 months old, is 36" tall and weighs 28 pounds. All of the front facing car seats would be outgrown in just a few months. Many of the booster car seats don't have the 5-point harness. I installed this one in my car in a matter of minutes fully adjusted for his tall frame with growing room left over. I truly think this is an excellent value. I got mine in a discount store for $50.00 so that made it an ever better value.

We love this car seat, and have bought one for both our boys. Unlike other reviewers, I have had much less trouble with straps twisting than I have with other more expensive car seats. The seats are also more comfortable than other carseats we have had. However, my 3 year old likes to pull off the padded arm rests from both his and his brother's car seats. It's much easier to install as a booster seat than as a regular car seat--the instructions are quite complicated--but I've yet to find easy car seat installation instructions. But on the whole, these are great car seats and we're really happy with them.

We are pleased with the carseat, it is easy to take in and out of the car and to put it in the car correctly. We bought this carseat because of the restraint system. It is SO easy to loosen and tighten this 5 point harness! To tighten you just pull the single strap hanging in front and both staps tighten at the same time! No messing with trying to get them even. And to loosen the straps you just hold a button down and pull on the harness. As for the puzzle lock, I have no problems with remembering how to get it together, but the grandparents have some diffculty because they don't use it enough. Once you get use to it you do it without thinking about it. The reviewer that said she white-outed the buckle had a great idea. Whatever works the easiest for you. Overall we have no complaints about this seat. It's safe and easy to use
If you do have questions about how to install your carseat I would take it to the police or sheriff's department and ask if there is someone who could check your carseat out. Most of them are more than happy to help you keep your child safe. You would be surprised how many carseats are in wrong!!

I bought this carseat last week to put in my car for my 2 year old daughter. We have all cosco carseats, an infant carseat w/travel system, and the convertable carseat all Eddie Bauer brands. I love love love all of them. The only thing I don't like is that the straps do easily get twisted, however I still rate it a 5. This carseat is comfy, sturdy, and plenty big for my 3ft tall 32lb 2 year old. We don't spend much time in the car so I feel there is no reason to spend more than $100 on a booster seat (...), in my case I spent $80 on this one in the store. If you are on a budget like me then this is well worth the money.

I bought this seat to go in grandma's car and it works great for that purpose. Our full time car seat is the Evenflo Triumph DLX, which is very heavy. This seat is light and easy to move from car to car. Some people have problems with the puzzle lock-I knew my mom would too. I got some white out and marked the fronts of each piece so she could match them up. No problems so far.

We just got this seat for our son who's 2 1/2 and he is much happier in this car seat. He no longer looks like he's squished into his seat and he doesn't complain about the seat belt anymore! He can reach his toys and still be safely buckled into the seat. The only thing I had a little trouble with was adjusting the tether but once I figured it out I was able to get the seat into my vehicle tightly. I have a 2002 Subaru Forester which doesn't have the lower anchors but the center belt is designed for car seats, all I can say to anyone having a problem getting this seat into their car, read your vehicle's owners manual, DO NOT GUESS!

I just bought this car seat based on the good reviews and the Consumer Rating. It seems overall a great car seat but we are returning it because the cover isn't attached at the top to the seat in any way. It keeps slipping off and it's driving me nuts. I'm sure once my son is out of the harness and using the belt it will be even more of a pain! I just called the company and I was told that they just changed this on any car seat that was made in 2005. Before 2005 there were clips to keep the fabric cover on and after 2005 they redesigned it without the clips. I don't know why!
I am so frustrated with my search for a convertable car seat booster for my son who is 2 1/2, 36lbs and 37" and I still want to keep him in a 5 point harness.
I went to return this seat. I checked out the floor model which was manufactured in 2004 and there were no clips for the fabric cover to stay attached to the seat. But, it seemed to have more fabric and it stayed put. They only had the floor model left so we bought it and hopefully it will work!
Just a note -- the Eddie Bauer converable 2--in-1 seat we bought does NOT have the puzzle lock belt.

This car seat is less bulky then most car seats and very easy to install. Easy on and off fabric to clean and cupholder is great as long as its not next to the door (door wouldnt shut with holder there). This was a little tricky to figure out at first b/c we bought the last one without instructions, which was the floor model! Instalation instructions were available online. Once we read the instructions instalation was a snap, this is the best seat we have owned yet! The Quality is evident. It has a perfect fit and that makes me feel super safe. I wish we would have bought Eddie Bauer from the beginning. It is very easy to adjust, you just need to know what you are doing, and make sure you are doing it right!

I bought this seat to use as a booster for 40lbs+ for my daughter because I like having a convertable seat. It was the softest and most comfortable for her and I liked the look. Problem is the shoulder strap comes loose and slides out of the seat. Also the new model has no clips holding the fabric to the plastic and the shoulder strap peice is attached to the fabric. I do not understand why they would do this and how it is suppose to keep my daughter safely secured in her seat. I do not feel safe with my daughter in this seat and I took the seat back. As a 5 point harness seat it may be fine but check it out for the booster also so you are not disappointed when your child gets older.I am very frusterated in the selecton of seats out there.

This is the 4th car seat I have used since having my child and it is by far my absolute favorite. It's lightweight, easy to clean and EXTREMELY easy to buckle. I am not sure what other's are referring to with a "puzzle buckle." There's no puzzle to buckling the seat. They may be referring to the 3-in-1 seat in this same pattern. The buckling mechanism is hassle free. It's perfect to grow with your child. Definitely a keeper. I would recommend this car seat to anyone who likes a little fashion with their necessities!! :)

To all those people who are frustrated with straps twisting, I have finally figured out a way to keep all the other carseat brands (besides Britax) from twisting.DO exactly what Britax does!! Go to Walmart and buy Industrial strength velcro, attach one piece to the arm rest and the other to your harness strap. Do this to both sides. Whalla, problem solved. I did this to my Graco Platinum cargo and it works like a charm.Maybe other companies will make this a standard when the remake carseats.I hope I helped everyone out, it sure makes getting in and out easier!

I have 2 seats: Marathon and this one. Both are of a very good quality. I use my Marathon seat for long distance drives with my toddler, while Eddie Bayer seat is great for short distance trips: it is not as soft. Otherwise the quality of a fabric is great, it fits perfectly in our Accord and was easy to install. The other tiny set back is that it can't be used for babies (Marathon can) because of the seat angle. It is more for toddlers and up. So, the perfect utilization for this seat is to have it in your second car once you child is 1,5 old +. Oh, and the price is certainly a plus.

We bought this seat 3 months ago. The guides for the harness keep coming out because they only pop into the seat thru the fabric. I can't count how many times I have looked back to see my son playing with them. When we had to remove the cover to wash it, it was very difficult to put back together (compared to any of our other 3 seats). To top it all off, yesterday, I pulled the strap in the front to tighten the belts, and the lever you push down to adjust the straps broke free from the frame. Hardly what I would expect after only 3 months of use. It is a nice looking seat, but overall unimpressed with the poor construction. The belts hang up all the time, adjust unevenly, and in comparison with the other seats, performs the worst. My advice is for a cheap seat, go with the Evenflo. If you don't mind springing for the best, get the Britax, it is truly worth the money. We've had ours for 2 years, it's on it's second baby, and still like new and easy to use and clean. Also very comfy.

my older toddler already had a car seat (he is very small and not big enough for a plain booster yet) so I left him in his seat and got this one for the one year old. I love it. she loves it. it is very easy to use. she falls asleep every time we get her in the seat for a trip over 15 or 20 minutes. she would cry like a banshee in the infant carseat. I just wish I had one like this for my older toddler, but I cant afford to just toss the one he has and get a new one. other reviews said the new ones come without clips holding on the fabric, there are no clips on this either but I have had no problems with fabric falling down. I bought this one about 8 months ago. (today is july 13, 2005) If given the option to buy or not buy again I would definitely buy it again.

I bought this seat about 5 months ago for my 5 year old. We love the car seat. It installs easily and is not too heavy. The only problem we had was when we tried it as a booster seat. When we put the seatbelt through the belt positioner the pad came of the top of the seat and into her face. The company said they haven't had a problem. So I would suggest that if you buy this seat you try it in booster mode once to see if it happens. Other than that it is a great seat. I do have to say that Cosco has been great about it. They sent us a new pad and offered to give us a refund. We have yet to try the new cover, although it looks exactly the same. We'll see.

We bought this booster after our 2 1/2 year old got too big for the Britax Roundabout car seat. We would've stayed with Britax if they had a car seat that used the vehicle's seat belt instead of the five point harness. I know from experience that when a child gets to a certain age, they want to buckle themselves in and not wait for a parent to do so. The only quibble I have with this car seat is the puzzle lock that needs to be fitted together just so before you can snap it into place. And contrary to another reviewer's comment about the tether being too short for the '02 Odyssey, the tether is adjustable and is long enough to clip onto the tether under the seat (you just need to fuss with it a little). With the LATCH and tether in place, the booster is very tight on the seat. Which is how it should be!

I gave this seat 1 star because it's pretty & 1 star because it's slightly comfortable. Other than that, I'm not really happy with this seat. Here's why:
1: It's also somewhat difficult to adjust the straps when our daughter has on thicker clothing.
2: The straps constantly twist, so much that my husband has to frequently take it out and reroute the straps from the back. Most of the time, the straps get so twisted that we have to buckle them that way. I know that can't be comfortable or safe for our baby either!
3: And finally...Who invented the puzzle buckle??? It's fine as long as you have a compliant child. If you have one that wiggles or fights getting into the seat---don't buy any seat with a puzzle buckle!!
We ultimately gave this seat to grandma. We actually bought a Britax Marathon--absolutely no complaints about that seat--it's perfect!

This is a an "OK" car seat. My son is fairly comfortable in it. My only complaint is that the straps always get twisted and tangled up. I've even tried starching them to make them stiff, but to no avail! It is easy to get my son in and out of, and is nice because you can remove the cushion to launder. It washes nicely. Hope this helps! Look for stiff, strong straps in a carseat so they won't twist up!

I am still shopping for a booster, after having purchased the "deluxe" model of this booster--the one that has the reclining base that you have to remove when using as a booster. I purchased the deluxe because it seemed that the seatbelt guide when using it as a booster was safter--the guide is attached to the car seat itself. In this model, the seatbelt guide (not the 5-point harness) is attach very precariously to the FABRIC CAR SEAT COVER. How can this be safe?!? I'm puzzled and still shopping, but thought I'd put that out there for any purchasing this w/the intention of using it as a booster.

The strap has a tendency to bunch up and does not allow the seat to synch enough to be truly tight. The front clip is like figuring a puzzle. I am sure it would not be a problem after you had done it fifty times, but the first five will frustrate you especially if you are in a hurry.

WE HAVE TO USE THE CLIP ON THE SIDE TO HOLD THE SEAT BELT AWAY FROM OUR SON'S NECK. I'VE FOUND THAT THE CLIP ACTUALLY KEEPS THE SEAT BELT FROM RETRACTING PROPERLY. I AM PURCHASING ANOTHER BOOSTER. I JUST DON'T FEEL LIKE HE'S SAFE ENOUGH IN THIS ONE.

If you plan on purchasing this car seat for a minivan, please make sure that you don't need an extra long tether strap to install. On the 2002 Honda Odessey the tether strap must go around the back of the seat and under the seat. The manufacturer doesn't sell or provide a longer tether strap for this particular car seat or any of their car seats. Safety issue!!! If you can't use the tether strap then you can't use the LATCH system. You will have to install the car seat using the car seat belts and will not be able to use the tether strap! Make sure before purchasing this car seat that you can use the short tether strap or you will be doing the same thing I had to do--RETURN IT!!!

She also loves it because with her facing forward see's able to see me and has a better view of other things. But just riecently I took it apart to wash the material and lost the part to where the harnest attaches to. [...]

Do your research before buying this seat!!! Consumer Reports specifically recommends not choosing this seat. They say that when used as a booster, the seat belt guides do not allow the seat belt to move freely. The Cosco Summit high Back Booster is better, and totally recommended by CR. There is also an Eddie Bauer version for those wanting a nicer fabric.

I bought this for my daughter after I recently bought an Eddie Bauer truck. It matches my interior very well. I'm not goign to say that my daughter loves the carseat because she's 3. A carseat is a carseat to her. I feel secure with letting her ride in it. It's the same as any other we've bought before. Except this one is made out of a nicer fabric. Seriously. .that's the only reason I bought it. It matches my truck, she fit well in it, it kept her safe. I paid the same amount for it as some at walmart. She throws her cup down when she's done with it anyway so the cup holder went in the trash. As far as complaining about the belt positioner being on the fabric, all the others I've found are like this as well. But i've never had any problems with it. It's beautiful and functional and safe. End of story.
