REVIEW
br /- Foldable seat - This is the key reason that we purchase this as opposed to buying another Britax Marathon. Once the seat is folded, it is about 7" thick. There are tabs on the frame to allow you to carry it with a strap (sold separately).
br /- Carry bag (sold separately) - We also purchased the bag/backpack to carry the seat onto planes. It fits the seat like a glove and can be converted from shoulder-carry to backpack. BTW, if you want to go minimalist, you can also unbuckle these straps and hook them onto the seat's frame. Very convenient.
br /- Steel frame - Although the Radian is slimmer than the Britax, it is still quite heavy (20 lb.) due to its steel frame. Since we only plan to lug the seat on infrequent plane trips, this was not much of an issue for us.
br /- Fabric - Suede feel, less velour-like, more fitted than Britax. Padding is about the same thickness as Britax but looks less as the suede fabric is more tailored (not as puffy).
br /- Seat Size - definitely a narrower seat (many board members have reported that you can fit 3 of these seats in the back seat).
br /- Comfort - My 3 year old son has not had any complaints about the seat. I did notice that the seat belts are a bit closer together when buckled and thus making the padded epaulettes (comes with the seat) essential to prevent seat belt burn on the neck.
br /- Chest Clips - They do feel a bit flimsier than Britax (has extra rubber pad (HUGS in their lingo)).
br /- Rear Facing - We are using it forward facing so we did not need to install the additional based for rear facing. I am annoyed that the car seat is not all in one piece but I suppose it lowers the weight for traveling for those who only need forward facing.
br /- Recline - There are only 2 options - recline or upright with very little recline. We chose the recline position and my son is comfortable napping in this position. It is also not overly reclined to prevent him checking out the road.
br /- Installation - Some people complained of installation problems. We used LATCH (forward facing) on our 2006 Mazda5 and did not have any problems with the installation. We have yet to try installing it with a seat belt. Overall, I think the Britax is easier to install with its clip locks for seat belt installation and versa tether to allow for front tethering options. However, if you plan to use LATCH forward facing, both the Britax and the Radian65 are equally easy to install.
br /
br /CONCLUSION
br /The Radian65 is a very nice seat that is far more portable due to its folding seat than the Britax Marathon. I especially like its innovative portable features with the carry bag and the tabs on the seat for carrying it. This is a cool feature that I did not find in any other seat.

SKJP was on the right path with this seat. It's narrow, it's made from quality components, it has the potential to be user friendly.
br /
br /However, this seat typically runs in the 40-60% of acceptable installation range. In other words it's VERY possible that this seat may NOT work in your vehicle. Remember, a properly installed carseat should not move more than 1" side to side when checked for movement at the beltpath (where the seatbelt/LATCH strap is route through the carseat).
br /
br /I purchased one of these directly from SKJP when they were first released for my then 4yo son who was too tall for pretty much every harnessed seat on the market with the exception of the Britax Husky, yet he was too thin (33lbs soaking wet) to be placed into a traditional booster seat.
br /This seat was completely incompatible with the vehicle that I needed to use it in.
br /
br /Buyer beware...make sure that this is going to work in your vehicle, or that you have the option of returning it if it does not install properly in your vehicle.
br /
br /Keep your kids safe, make sure that their seat is properly installed and used each and every trip!

My car ('95 525i) has a lap belt in the center back seat, making a belt-positioning booster impossible. Additionally, the only seats I have seen that accommodate a 44# child are GIGANTIC! Since I have 3 kids in the back seat, two already in boosters, a huge car seat was not an option. I have been at a loss, keeping my big kid in his Britax Advantage for waaay longer than he should have been. I was so happy to find the Radian65! I could install it with the lap belt, the weight limit is 65#(!), and it actually fits between the two boosters without crowding my other two kids. This would have been enough for me, but I am also very impressed with the quality of the seat. The design details were very thoughtful, and the workmanship is on par with Britax. It looks like a much more expensive seat. Which brings me to my final point: I live in Hawaii, and shipping is always a killer. Amazon's price for this seat was not just $20 less than anywhere else (and believe me, I did plenty of research), but they shipped it to me for free - which, combined with the lower price, ended up saving me around $100! I couldn't be happier.
Great seat!

We have this seat for our 3.5 year old daughter. At 39 lbs and 41+", she's tall for her age. She has about 2" of room left in this seat. Anyway, this seat can be difficult to install. Set aside a couple of hours and be prepared to sweat it out! It's heavy, 22 lbs, so wrestling it into your vehicle can be a challenge. However, once you master whatever it takes to get it in your car-it's easy. One key thing to do is pull back the cover to better reach the belt path when tightening LATCH straps or the seatbelt. We've installed this seat, forward-facing, in many vehicles- 2006 Chrysler Town and Country, 2004 Honda CR-V, 1999 Honda CR-V, 2005 PT Cruiser, 2005 Dodge Stratus, 1990 Subaru Legacy and 2004 Toyota Camry. All installs were rock solid. We have also installed it, rear facing, in a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country. My daughter loves her Radian and so do we. In spite of frequent difficult installs, it can be put in most vehicles, some with more difficulty than others. My husband can get the Radian seat into most any vehicle in less then 5 minutes. Most kids will outgrow the Radian65 by height before weight (making the Radian80 an unnecessary purchase, for most people). This is a great seat! We like it and think others will too.
THE BEST of the best.

We got into an interesting discussion a while back on a networking group I belong to... I was fascinated/horrified by what Kay (the owner of My Precious Kid) had to say about car seats.
br /
br /I had already bought a nice little booster seat for Miss J, since she will be graduating into that size catagory right about the time the baby comes. But Kay was adamant from her research that these still-really-little people need to stay in a 5-point harness as long as possible to keep them safe.
br /
br /There are a bunch of very sad videos on YouTube about this topic, which a quick search will bring to your screen.
br /
br /I was convinced, and I got Miss J a "Big Girl Car Seat": the amazing RADIAN 65 Car Seat.
br /
br /There is a Radian 65 and a Radian 80, with the difference being the weight limit. Since J is much taller than she is heavy, she will certainly be outgrowing either seat by height before she reaches 65 lbs., making the 80 unnecessary for our particular situation. It does come in pink, though, which was tempting...
br /
br /I read though some of the reviews of the seat here on Amazon, and it was pretty amazing to hear the variety of whines about difficulty to install, weight, etc.
br /
br /Was it easy to put in my Tahoe?
br /
br /Well, okay, not as easy as the booster seat, no. And some of the things I did have to readjust after installing it once and looking at my handiwork. My older son helped (can you see me trying to reach over the seat to get to the buckles with my 8-months pregnant belly? Not.), and it took the two of us... oh... maybe 10 minutes. Let me be generous and say 15.
br /
br /I'm not kidding. Is 15 minutes, once, not a totally reasonable time investment for something that can save your child's life?
br /
br /I have a little more sympathy for people who said it doesn't fit in their vehicle. I was originally going to put it in the center of the back seat, where she's currently riding. Turns out it can't be installed there, because of the seatbelt buckle configuration of my pre-LATCH vehicle. But of course after watching Kyle's video (on YouTube), it really shouldn't be there, anyway, as there's no place in the center back to link a top tether!
br /
br /So, off to the side she went...
br /
br /(BTW, installing again on the driver's side after changing my mind, once we'd "got the drill down" and had all the correct straps installed and adjusted, took about 3 minutes).
br /
br /It has so many great features you just can't dismiss: steel frame construction, trim profile and upright position (J HATES reclining!), a unique "safe strap" for use in certain configurations (including Miss J's) that would help reduce the strap load on her in the event of a collision (WOW!), it folds flat for travel and transport (and is FAA approved for airline use)...
br /
br /I find it in all ways superior to the Britax Marathon we have now . . . and did I mention that it's a lot less expensive?!
br /
br /Where was this seat when I was shopping so diligently 3 years ago?

Super car seat, slim design

Thanks for your feedback
We have just purchased a second Radian 65. I love the slim design. They are very nice for tight spaces. We have them in our mini-van where a regular car seat would fit, but I still prefer this profile. I have seen pictures, and do believe you could fit 3 of these side by side in a car. It looks almost like the seat of the car and not a huge ugly baby seat. I do feel a little weird about the fact that there is not as much side material compared to other seats, but I know it is still safe, and it helps my 3 year old son feel less confined. We have only used it forward facing, can't speak to rear-facing.
br /
br /The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is HEAVY. We used it travelling and while the fold up feature is great, the seat is so heavy it didn't matter that it was folded, it was still hard to maneuver and didn't fit in the overhead bin when we decided to abandon using it on the flight. We checked it through on our return flight so we didn't have to haul it through the airport. Probably easier than some other seat, but not perfect. If you had to take it in and out of a car on a daily basis I don't think we'd like it as much. (Note on the folding feature: it can't be folded once installed...I thought we could just flip it up so we could scoot by it if we needed to, but not the case (its only for storage). Turns out, its slim enough you an maneuver by it in our van NO problem anyway).
br /
br /The crotch strap does seem a little close to the back, especially if you had a larger child, but it hasn't been a problem for us. I don't love the release to loosen the straps, but we rarely need to do that anyway, and its not difficult, you just have to move a flap of fabric out of the way before you can reach the lever. The fact that it is safe for 5 point harness up to 65 pounds is what sold it for me, plus the added benefit of its slim design.
br /
br /Positives definitely outweigh the negatives. Love it!

Great seat, but very difficult to install safely without LATCH.

We bought two of these seats for our kids after much research. They are very solidly built, durable, and I believe they are very safe when used properly. The problem is installation. Our cars don't have LATCH systems and it is next to impossible to install these securely with the shoulder belt. I typically have to wrestle with each one for 20-40 minutes, often injuring my back and fingers to get them securely into our '92 Accord. Using the tether helps but it's very difficult to get the the shoulder/lap belt tight enough to minimize play, even using the locking clips.
br /They simply will not fit safely in our '93 Corolla. Even the LATCH installations can be quite difficult in the rental cars we've used. The straps can also be quite difficult to adjust--they seem to get stuck underneath. I would love to give these a much higher rating but installation is so difficult that it can seriously compromise safety, not to mention usability.

I was thrilled to find a seat that I could use for my 4 year old! I felt very uneasy about putting her in a booster, because, even though it's legal, it's NOT as safe as a harness!! The fact that this seat is so narrow is a great thing for me because I drive a very small car and need to save room where I can! I have had great customer service from sunshine kids reguarding this seat. My emails have been returned promtly and my question have all been answered.
br /I will say that I only gave it 4 stars because I have not been able to install it in every car I have tried. So please be sure you buy from somewhere you can return it, just in case!

We recently purchased this seat, and our 4 year old son loves it. It is easy enough for him to manipulate the buckles when he gets into the seat, but still needs our help getting out.
br /
br /The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is for the installation. I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey, which does not have latch, so we had to use the shoulder/lap installation. The instructions walk you through the steps, which are straight forward, but they say nothing about adjusting for fit prior to installation (not for several more pages). So I got it installed, sat my son in it and realized the straps were to high. Had to remove it and adjust the straps re-install, then read some more...Radian recommends using the top strap to add extra security...Where is the top strap? Behind the re-installed chair! (BTW on the Odyssey there is a handy dandy mount under the chair designed for the top strap)
br /
br /Radian needs to do a better job of getting the installation instructions in the right order. Do yourself a favor. Read the whole installation manual and figure out what you need to do before you install the chair.
br /
br /Once it is installed it is a rock solid, safe chair!

I was nervous about buying a car seat sight unseen, but we like the Radian65 very much. It is easy for my 2.5 year-old to get in out of and it makes her feel like a big girl not to be in such a bulky seat. (We passed her Roundabout down to our baby after he outgrew his infant seat.)
br /Three things to know/consider:
br /1) The crotch strap is pretty far back and you will have to dig it out from under your little one almost every time.
br /2) My husband was pulling it out of our trunk and it fell out of its folded position, smashing his fingers pretty badly. I don't think it'll be a problem now that we know to watch it.
br /3) There isn't much side padding on the seat, so there's not really a place for a child to rest her head if she falls asleep.
br /Other than these relatively minor issues, I would recommend the Radian for purchase.

We use this car seat for 9 months now, and we are still satisfied. The most important aspect when selecting this one was portability. In these 9 months I had 2 trips to Europe with my 2 year old son ALONE. This means 12 airport transfers, and yes the car seat is heavy, but I put it on the stroller with the carrying case (sold separately). (In parentes the case needed repair during the latest trip (ripped out), so that is not very durable.) But the seat performed perfectly. My son could take good naps in it (I did not install it very tightly on planes, so I could recline the car seat in the reclined aircraft seat as much as my son's legs allowed.) It was realtively easy to take out from the bag and put away even in the confined turist class rows. My kid could even use the tray on the airplane for ad hoc arts and crafts (as the car seat is pretty low when not reclined), although this is not suggested for anything more sophisticated than play dough, bacase he can easily kick the tray.
br /
br /We had to install this car seat frequently in cars both here and in Europe. In Citroen4, Toyota Yaris, Audi 4, Ford Taurus, Honda Civic we did not have a problem with the LATCH (forward facing). The seat does not move a millimeter when installed. Unfortunately no crush test results were accessible on Consumerreports.org when I bought this. So in this (most important) aspect we do not have comparison with other brand name products, which is a pity.
br /
br /I did also quite a research before buying this seat and this was the only car seat matching our needs. I would not say that this is the "best", as it is alone in its category with its folding and slim design. I am sure one can think of improvements (e.g. recline, weight), but it is a fairly good product as it is. My son likes it, and we parents like it. We can only recommend.

I would not say that this is the "best", as it is alone in its category with its folding and slim design. I am sure one can think of improvements (e.g. recline, weight), but it is a fairly good product as it is. My son likes it, and we parents like it. We can only recommend.

At my son's four month check up I was surprised to find out he was a very long baby and soon to outgrow his infant seat (which for some reason I thought would last until he was a year old!) I began an internet search for safety ratings and reviews to find a great new car seat. I ended up trying to decide between the Radian65 and Britax Boulevard car seats. In the end I chose the Radian65. Both received very good reviews as far as safety and consumer recommendations. The Radian65 is almost 1/2 the cost of the Britax and it is the only car seat that folds! We are a family that travels a lot and the thought of lugging a huge 20+ pound seat around an airport is not appealing. But, with the Radian you can fold it and attach a carrying strap to make it more manageable. My son loved this seat the minute we put him in it. It is very roomy, but also fits well in the back seat of our crew cab pick up truck as it has a narrow design. The only challenge I have with this seat is finding toys that will attach to it so my son can play while I am driving. I definitely recommend this seat. It was easy to set up in the rear facing position and seems very comfortable and safe! Free shipping through Amazon for this item was a definite bonus!!
This is a real good car seat.

We bought the Sunshine Kids Radian 80 last year for our oldest son. We really liked that one. We decided to get the Radian 65 this time around for our second son to save a little money. We have two more kids that will be growing into these two car seats. Yes, they are heavy, but it's not the end of the world. I am 8 months pregnant and just had to move both of the SunShine Kids car seats by myself into my mother's car. It was fine, not a big deal. The straps are real nice, they don't twist. Both of my boys, ages 5 and 4 can completely strap themselves in and get themselves out, which is very much needed. I feel like I am offering my kids the most safety I can with these car seats, for a very long time. I think it is super important to keep my kids (any kids for that matter) in a five point harness for as long as possible.

I purchased this seat last spring, when I realized my two-year-old was outgrowing his ComfortSport by height. I feel it's very important to keep a child harnessed as long as possible, so I started my search for a harnessed seat with a high weight and height limit. I purchased this seat, and now, months later, I'm so very glad I did. In fact, I've purchased another Radian 65 since then for my husband's truck.
br /
br /One of the nicest features about this seat is its narrow base and low profile. Your child sits low and back, and with a super-tight install, this seat feels like part of the car. Because of the narrow base, I've read in many places that you can fit three of these seats across if you need to. I have no experience with this, as I only have two kiddos, but I think that's a great option! The cover is easy to remove, once you get the hang of it, and it washes well. Just hang to dry. Also, this seat is heavy, but I think that's a good thing. I love that it's on a steel frame. It might make it a bit harder and maybe even inconvenient to move, but trust me when I say this is one solid seat. I will say that I have never had to use this seat rear-facing, so I can't attest to that. It does tether rear-facing, which is a great option - only Sunshine Kids and Britax seats have that option right now.
br /
br /And the best part is that my son likes his seat too. It has more of a "big-boy" feel than other seats, and he likes that. Also, I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee (04) and My husband's truck is a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab (02) and it has installed perfectly in both (outboard, driver's side w/top tether). I know there have been reports of difficult installs but we have not experienced that with our vehicles. All in all, I think this seat is a good investment and worth the money. It has defintely worked for us!

I was intimidated by some other reviews regarding installation, but found that rear-facing installation using LATCH was simple in my Mazda3. I was a bit surprised by the seat's weight (although descriptions are accurate, it was hard for me to imagine the weight before actually experiencing it). Due to the weight, I don't think we'll really lug this seat around or move it from car to car. We did choose this seat largely due to it's foldability for traveling and we will take it on flights, but it is heavy. Our child is still a baby (only 6 months) so I'll be interested to see how the seat holds up over time. Right now, I'm very pleased.

I have been extremely pleased with this car seat. I love the fact that it does not take up half my back seat. The huge car seats are a big pet peeve of mine. Everyone that sees it says "Oh, it's so slim!" Yet my daughter (15 months) is still very comfortable in it, with plenty of room to grow in both directions too. I got the 65 instead of the 80; I don't really see using a full size car seat past 65 pounds. I had to completely take it off and wash it once, which is never fun or super convenient with a car seat, but really wasn't too bad. It washed up very nicely and looked like new again. Others have complained about the weight for travel which I personally don't get. I would rather carry 26 pounds in a nice neat rectangle instead of 20 pounds in a big bulky thing any day. Plus you can order the carry case, or backpack straps for it. Neither my husband nor I would have any issue with carrying 26 pounds on our backs through an airport. My child is 22 pounds now and I pick her up and carry her all the time! You will have a hard time finding this car seat in a store, as most of the big stores have mostly Graco, Britax, etc. But I am so happy I found out about this car seat through Amazon and took a chance, as it is SO much better than any I saw at the stores. Several of my friends have now purchased this seat for their kid(s) as a result of seeing my seat, or they have wished that they did!

My 8 month old was growing out of his car seat and I wanted a new car seat that could stay with him until he only needed a booster. The Radian 65 fit the bill. It is one of the few seats that can safely hold your child until 65 lbs. There is another Radian that goes to 85 lbs, but my son will hit the height limit before he hits the weight limit and the height limit is the same for both.
br /
br /The Radian65 is narrow on the outside, yet VERY roomy on the inside and fits perfectly in my Honda CRV. They advertise that you can fit 3 across in most cars. When I read the install instructions for rear-facing, I was incredibly confused, however, once I actually looked at the seat and started the install, it was actually somewhat simple. The install for front-facing seems fairly straight-forward. I had to fight with my seatbelts to get it tight, but I think that was more my car than the seat and now that it's in, it is very sturdy and secure. The Radian has a steel frame and expires 8 years from manufacture date instead of the common 6-7 years for other seats. It also is the only seat that has a flip-up base. This is useless when the seat is rear-facing, but will come in quite handy when I switch it to front-facing. I was choosing between the Radian65 and the Britax Marathon because both have the high weight limit, and chose this one because of the sleeker design, the steel frame and the 8 year expiration. The only drawback I can think of is that it is quite heavy because of the steel frame, however, we don't need to take it in and out very often. It is not too heavy for me to carry in or out of the house and I think the added strength of a steel frame is well worth the extra weight. I really like this car seat and my son made a very easy transition into it from his infant seat.

Awesome! This seat fits perfect!
br /I drive a Toyota RAV4 and will have three kids in the back seat, two in boosters and soon a baby in this one!! This seat requires just as much room reclining as any other convertible seat or even infant car seat. The base is narrower than on other seats. Took about 10-20 minutes to set up and install. The instructions were really easy to follow. I would definitely recommend it!!!!

We bought two of these for our newborn twins because they were able to sit side by side in our van. The width of these seats made them perfect for our car, everything else was a nightmare. The foam behind the seats in both seats cracked and broke off in chucks. It is a piece of junk. I took the first seat back as soon as the foam cracked. Fortunately we live near where they are made. They did give me a new seat. It cracked in a week. But the worst and most unforgiveable things was the tether that locks the carseat in place. It is extrememly long. We took the seats on an airplane trip and when we got to our destination we put the seats in the car. We did not lock in the tether because there was no place on that particular car for the tether to go. Unfortunately the tether had come loose during the flight and was no longer rolled up in the back of the seat. The tether was so long it actually went from the middle seat and unbeknownst to me was hanging out of the door when we drove off. It then got caught under the wheel of the car smashing the middle baby seat into the other. We spent the morning at the ER with our two babies and one now has a permanent scar on his ankle from this accident. I went into Target to check out the tether lengths on the other seat brands. We realize that this was a crazy accident. But the length of the other tethers is about half that of the Sunshines. It's not something you think about until the worst happens, but as a car seat manufacturer they ought to consider these things. Why should their tether be so much longer then everyone elses? Also the seats are very heavy. We purchased the travel carrying covers for them (supposedly makes them easier to travel with in airports). Both carrying straps broke withing 20 minutes of trying to lug those heavy carseats around. A piece of junk. Sunshine - you should be ashamed of yourselves.

This is a great car seat that seems to be structurally much stronger than traditional seats while occupying much less space.

br /We have a Rav4 and the seat fits very neatly behind the passenger or driver. Once our son turns one I'm going to get a Radian85 and put my son in the 65 while moving my three year old up to the 85. For a car with a smaller back seat these seats are fantastic.
br /
br /I just traveled to Orlando from Newark and was delighted the seat could fold and was east to install in my rental (Toyota Highlander). One word of caution the seat weighs just over 25 pounds

Great price for safety and convenince.
br /
br /We love the slim dimensions of this car seat for our 2 year old son. There is plenty of room for a large adult in the backseat with the Radian and our other car seat (Britax Marathon).
br /
br /It's heavy, yes, but that is due to the steel frame construction, which contributes to the great safety rating.
br /
br /The straps are easier to adjust than Britax Roundabout and Marathon and I have never had problems with twisting.
br /
br /Ideal for multiple children. In an SUV, the low profile of the Radian makes it easy to reach over to get a child out of a seat in the center. I'm not tall, so this was a struggle with our other seat.
br /(I did not give 5 stars only because my son would prefer sitting up a little higher, which seems to be the only down side to the low profile design.)
br /
br /I believe that there is no such thing as a "perfect" stroller or car seat, but if you intend to leave the seat installed most of the time, have more than one child and need room for a full size adult in the back seat, you won't go wrong with the Radian.

I needed to fit 3 car seats across in my van. This seat is one of the skinniest available. The only problem is that it is so heavy! If you are leaving it in the car permanently than that won't be a problem though. But if you are switching it from one car to another or expecting it to be easily carried you should be warned. Otherwise the seat is just what I needed.

We bought this product for our first child in 2006 when she outgrew her infant carseat at 6 months old. We've been very pleased with it for the most part.
br /
br /What we like best about it is how little width it takes up in our car. I would say it only takes up about as much space as an adult would -- meaning that if you have three seats in the back of your car and you put this car seat in the middle, any two adults who sit back there will still feel they have adequate room. This was a big plus when we recently had twins but didn't want to have to buy a completely new car just to accommodate their seats. We have a 2004 Toyota Highlander and all three of their carseats will fit across the back seat. The price tag for the two seats was hefty, but it was better than paying thousands for a new car!
br /
br /Although it is advertised as being foldable and portable, I'm not planning to lug three 20 lb. carseats through the airport anytime soon. Even lugging one car seat through the airport got to be pretty grueling. Additionally, the carrying bag (sold separately) irreparably broke after only two uses.
br /
br /All in all it is a good, compact, safe and sturdy seat for your children, but if you are looking for lightweight portability this isn't the product for you.

We purchased this seat last Septemeber for our 3 year old son. He is tall and skinny and was about to outgrow his Britax Roundabout (which we absolutely loved). He was getting too tall for his old seat so we were on the hunt for a new seat that would accommodate him for awhile longer in a harness. We wanted to keep him as safe as possible. We wanted a narrow seat even though we don't have any more children (at this time). When we have company (that just includes 2 adults) we like to be able to travel in one vehicle instead of taking two. With this seat, we are able to do that. Even though this seat is narrow, my son has plenty of room. He's not cramped in any fashion and seems to like the seat quite well. I personally like the lower profile as opposed to others like his Roundabout was. He is able to climb into the seat all by himself which is nice... My only complaint is the harness adjuster is difficult to tighten. I got VERY used to how the Roundabout worked and the Radian works in a much different way. You have to pull with little tugs as opposed to one pull. I REALLY REALLY wish it was tightened like the old Roundabout. Then this would be the GREATEST SEAT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!! Regardless, we all are pleased with this seat.

I love love love this seat I bought 2 of them for my children and they are great. I will say they work better with newer vehicles. I am very impressed with them. I will be buying another soon. I highly recomend it for people with large family's it is great for fitting 3 in a back seat. The other comment about the cover sliding to the left I do not see how since those covers are so tightly snaped on their. I defintly think it's very heavy I wouldn't even attempt taking on a air plane. The reason for it being heavy is to keep your child safe with side impact so i am fine with the weight just wouldn't travel with it. It is the best car seat purchase I ever made and i have bought quite a few.

We purchased this seat a while back and use it as our main carseat. I have had no difficulties with it at all as an everyday seat. It has a much skinnier profile than most car seats and that means more room in the back seat for other guests. The sides don't stick out as far as britax seats and I'm considering installing some head support. It also sits lower down than Britax seats (less view out the window). The seat is easy to install with latch systems.
br /I did buy it to be our "travel seat," but found that while it does fold flat it is also pretty heavy. For traveling we went with bulky but light- an Evenflo Tribute 5 and the Gogo Kidz travelmate trolley attachment. Lets you cart the seat around, even with your kid in it. Not the perfect solution, but lighter weight than this seat and lighter than the all-in-one car seat/stroller (it is heavy, short handled).

We have a mini-van and 3 kids under 5 so finding carseats that can be placed 3 in a row in the bakc seat has been a challenge. These carseats, though expensive are well worth the extra dough! They are not only a perfect fit, but are quite comfortable for the kids, have a very high safety rating and even fold in half and lock if you're inclined to take them elsewhere!!!! Kudos to the maker of these babies!

We purchased 3 Radian 65's for use by for our 4 year old son. We have one in each of our vehicles and in grandmas car. Our son loves it. Very comfortable and it puts him in a position where he can see better and do more while he is strapped in for long trips. Plus easy to recline for naps. Critical to us is the 5 point safety harness. Having that is much more safe and secure than using a traditional seat belt on booster seats. And this thing is built solid!. Not flimsy like so many of those other booster seats. I found it easy to assemble. It is very heavy, so toting it around is not easy, but using the carry bag makes that easier. I like how it just folds up, so easy to store away. Cover is not easy to get off to wash, but I have yet to find any car seat other than Britax that is easy to clean.

This is a solid, sturdy car seat. Lots of steel in the frame. Folds easily for storage or transport. Has a long life before expiration (8 years). Will work from infancy until your child no longer needs a car seat. ( unless your child is very heavy for their age. 65 refers to the maximum weight capacity.. If you have a child who is heavier in relation to height consider the radian 80 ) It has a long rating for reverse seating ( the safest ) and for 5 point harness forward facing (2nd safest). This means you can keep your child rear-facing for a long time (more than the usual 12 months) to keep h/er as safe as possible. The Radian 65 and the Radian 80 have the same height slots, though, so unless your child is short and heavy, you won't gain anything by buying them the 80.

This seat is awesome. I have three kids and for our oldest daughter we have and Evenflo Big Kid bosster and it just never felt safe, this 5 point harness is the way to go! If you have more than 2 kids this booster is a no-brainer as you can fit 3 car seats/ boosters across with this one. It is very well made and feels very sturdy. It is a bit tricky to figure out how to install the first time, but once in it's worth the hastle. My 3 year old was very excited to see her new "big kid" car seat!

I recently had a third child and was in search for car seats for my car that would allow me to sit all three kids in the the back seat. This proved to be quite a challenge. I wasn't willing to sacrafice safety, so I went on a search. The Britax seats, although very nice, were too wide and there was no way I could put three car seats next to each other. I was plesantly surprised to stumble upon the Radian65. This seat appealed to my also because my oldest is almost 40 pounds, but I wanted to still keep her in a 5 point harness as long as possible.
br /
br /I ordered two seats - one for my four year old and one for my two year old. Once I got these seats, I read the instructions very carefully. I was installing two of these into my car and the process was a long one. Because of the way I was installing the seats in my car (in the middle with the seat belt and one on the end with the LATCH system) the direction were very different for both.
br /
br /Although the process was a long one, it was not difficult. I was able to get a nice tight fit for both seats. The seats are relatively heavy compared to other seats on the market due to the steel frame. The weight is mainly in the bottom of the seat, so it is not an issue unless you are moving seats around a lot. I drive a Mazda CX9, so at least twice a month I move one of the seats to the third row to accomodate an extra adult in the car. Even with moving the seat that much, it is not that big of a hassle.
br /
br /I have had the seats installed for about 8 months, and I have never had either child complain of discomfort. We have taken several long trips, and they seem to be just fine in the seats.
br /
br /I am extremely happy with this seat and will definitely buy another one when my youngest grows out of her infant seat.
br /
br /These seats were a great investment and make me feel good knowing my children are in a very safe seat.

br /Although the process was a long one, it was not difficult. Even with moving the seat that much, it is not that big of a hassle.

br /I have had the seats installed for about 8 months, and I have never had either child complain of discomfort. We have taken several long trips, and they seem to be just fine in the seats.
br /
br /I am extremely happy with this seat and will definitely buy another one when my youngest grows out of her infant seat.

br /These seats were a great investment and make me feel good knowing my children are in a very safe seat.
Excellent! Very happy (former Britex owner)

I went from a large bulky Britex (which I loved!) to this seat for my 3 year old to streamline since I have a sedan and needed all the room I could get. I can't be happier. It is excellent. My daughter loves it too. She thinks it is a big girl chair. I would recommend this to anyone with a 2 year old +.
Love it!

Love this seat! Not only is it terrific for safety, it also is narrow, allowing a better fit into our vehicle!
3 across, anyone?

I nanny triplets and do not have 3rd row seating in my vehicle, I needed car seats that would fit 3-across. The Radians fit awesome! I have NEVER had any issues installing with a seatbelt, or LATCH, or in Toyotas. I love everything about the Radians. Plus they EXCEED safety standards.
br /Having car seats that will fit 3 across, allow me to practice extended rear-facing AND extended harnessing, that exceed standards....is priceless. I highly recommend.
br /**Also consider the "comfy-soft" infant insert that supports little ones to 30 lbs, then converts into a toddler pillow for big kids. It's like $17. So no real reason to whine about head support.

Love these seats. I have 3 of them front facing in the back of a Sebring convertible. The middle uses the belt strap that comes with the seat.
Great car seat for both my boys!

I needed a car seat that would fit my growing 3 y.o. since he was close to outgrowing the 40lb. limit on the car seat we had. Also, we needed something for our new baby to grow in to. This fit perfectly for both of them. My baby loved that it wasn't overly padded (he gets hot quickly).
br /Another reason we bought this car seat was because of the size. With two convertible car seats in the back of my Caliber, there wasn't much room for anything else. But with two of the Radians, the middle seat can actually be used! I love how the latch works, we can easily move the car seats and adjust them as compared to the metal hooks of other seats.
br /We are planning on buying another set for our second vehicle.

This car seat is GREAT if you are the parent of a larger than average toddler. Our son is only 22 months old and already the size of a tall three year old and nearly 40 lbs (I'm over 6'1" myself and my husband is built like a football player). This is the fourth car seat we have had to buy to keep up with our son's rapid growth and I wish we had just bought it to begin with! I don't know why anyone would have problems installing it in their car. Like I said, we've gone through three other car seats (Snugrider, Safeseat, and Triumph) and this one is by far the easiest to install and the easiest to adjust the harness (which is a big deal when you consider varying coats and clothes make adjustments a daily exercise). I love it plain and simple. Now we have a car seat that can accommodate our larger than average toddler (who is still too young for a booster, but is too large for most toddler seats) and is safer than the Britax (got better crash test ratings and Britax has major recalls out right now) which is pretty much your only other option unless you shell out $400 for the Safeguard Child Seat. I gave it four out of five stars simply because the padding is a little shallow, but safety rules out luxury so it is a very nice car seat indeed!

I bought this a while ago but just had the police install it last week. Rear facing for my 8 month old, it won't fit in the center, must be on the passenger side. Minor annoyance for my 6 foot four inch husband who now must drive everywhere since he can't fit in the passenger seat. I'm taking it on the plane in a few weeks and we'll see how it works then. The strap adjustment is nice but they get tangled a lot. I honestly don't see how this will work to 65 pounds but maybe they will surprise me.

I am yet to use my car seats. I will still be several months before the children are born.
br /But I made my choice based on the great reviews along with the model car that I have.

Works great. Easy to install. My son fits in this seat so much better then any of the other seats we tried.

Seat cover keeps falling off to the left. This caused the styrofoam to chip off. The company (Sunshine Kids) refuses to send another one even though it's only been 3 months since purchase and I have a receipt. They keep saying it's amazon's responsibility. Amazon is only responsible for 30 days.
