We purchased this car seat for our 5 year old because we weren't happy with her high backed booster seat. The seat belt didn't always hold her in place and we didn't feel she was all that secure. We're happy with this seat because:
br /1. It has a 5 point harness
br /2. It is on the latch system
br /3. It fits securely in our car
br /4. It's narrow enough to fit in our back seat with 2 other seats
br /5. Our daughter thinks it's really comfortable
br /
br /We live in London and brought the seat from the US with us, our car is narrow and we often have 3 children in the back seat all needing car seats or boosters, this seat fits in.
br /
br /We also bought the travel bag with it and folded it for our plane trip home. We checked it through as luggage and it was really convenient. We've traveled with other car seats in the past and they are quite bulky when packing into the carry bag, this one was really easy! It didn't take that long to fit it into our car once we got home.
br /
br /Great seat - I would highly recommend it!

We were looking for a carseat/booster for our 3 year old son who had reached the 40 pound weight and 40 inch height mark. We were not comfortable putting him in a regular booster with the car seat belt and were on the lookout for a seat that would meet our needs for a 5 point harness with an extended weight and height limit. We had asked a friend who is a carseat technician and she gave us 2 recommendations that were in our price range. After looking at them both, we decided to purchase the Sunshine Kids Radian 65 seat. We are very pleased with it and love the fact that the base is fairly narrow (we have 3 kids across the backseat of our Subaru Outback!) and the height provides a good support. The latch hooks are easier than any other latch system we have ever used and installation is a breeze. I love that it has the ability to fold up for easier travel and there is an additional strap you can purchase so you can carry it over your shoulder if carrying it through an airport. This seat is approved for aircraft travel as well and we look forward to giving that a try. It would be nice of that strap was included with the seat instead of having to purchase it additionally. This seat is heavier than any of the seats we have ever used, it feels more substancial and we feel we made the right choice in choosing the Radian 65. Amazon.com offered a very good price and we had this seat less than 24 hours after placing the order! Exceptional products and exceptional prices! Many thanks!
A good priced alternative to keep your kids in a 5 pt harness longer!

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter that had been in a high back booster (HBB). Although she misses her cupholders, and tells me so, everytime we're in the car, she's never complained about the comfort of the seat. It's a heavy seat that takes a little extra time to install correctly, as you have to use the belt with a child over 50(?) lbs and this can sometimes make it a little harder than a latch install.
br /
br /This car seat is a wonderful choice for those with small backseats, or those who need room for 3 across, like I do. I can easily fit 2 of these for my preschoolers, and my 11 year old still has room between them!
br /
br /Overall, a wonderful buy, especially if you buy it early. The price is quite reasonable if you figure it goes safely from 5 lbs to 65! Most seats designed for multiple age groups usually have a failing in one of those ages. IE great carseat, horrible booster. This one does a great job all the way up.
br /
br /Please have your install checked by a qualified tech!! 80%!!!!! of carseats are used incorrectly! Even I was, and I considered myself pretty savvy!

Very comfortable, looks great. The installation is a bit hard when you have to put the belt behind the seat - but not a big deal. Fits tight when I use the tether on the top. I would have loved the velcro for the belt holders to be a bit higher up. My daughter likes it. Not sure if she will fit in it when she is 65 pounds as they claim, but 40 pounds should be no problem at all. Definitely cannot move it from car to car, fit once stays in the car. Dont plan on moving it to a different car. The newer seats have a thing near the ears - they call it extra protection, I call it side blinders - annoys kids very much. Dont go for those.
br /
br /Overall, a good buy after lots and lots of research. Not many stores have this one in display - spoke with the company and they said they are working on getting it into the bigger retail stores.

I wish I would have found this seat a long time ago, so I wouldn't have gone through other seats (Graco ComfortSport) first! Had I known that at three years old, I wouldn't be ready to put my son in a traditional booster seat using a seat belt, I would have shopped for a seat that kept a child in a five-point harness longer. He was already too tall (but not yet to the weight limit) of his Graco seat, and I looked into booster seats, but didn't feel like they would be safe enough. I fell in love with this seat when I found at a local store (but I ordered online anyway). It is very narrow, so it fits in the back of my G6 convertible great! The fabric is soft and attractive. There is velcro on the sides to hold the straps back for entry and exit. The folding feature with carrying strap I'm sure will be great for our trip to Hawaii in a few weeks, as well as the seat being narrow enough to fit on an airplane seat. Yes, the seat is heavy because it is made of steel, but it doesn't bother me, since I won't be lugging it around every day. My son is 36" tall and is on the second to the top harness slot, with what appears to be years of growth left. I'm really happy and feel much better than I would have if I had put him in a booster (especially in my convertible!). The ONLY complaint I have is that there is no cup holder!! I'm really shocked about this and didn't realize it until I installed it. NO big deal, however, since I can just hand my son his drink when he asks for it anyway. For someone with a large car/SUV though I would look into those detachable cup holders. I'm so glad I spent a little extra money on this seat (as I was skeptical), but see it was a great investment!

This seat is narrow, which is good if space is an issue. The center buckle (crotch area) is too close to the body, so it's difficult to close with bulky clothing on. The Britax Regent has a lot more space. If your child is thin, or you live in a warm climate, then the seat will work.

Pros:
br /1. upto 65lbs
br /2. built sturdy
br /3. gentral nuetral colour
br /4. DD seemed comfortable in it.
br /5. Rearfacing tethering.
br /
br /Cons:
br /1. I bought this mainly to use as a travel seat. I was sold on the folding feature. But it is sooooo heavy. Unless I invest in another product like the gogokidz, I will not be able to lug this around in airports.
br /2. difficult to install rear facing coz its so long.

I wanted to install this seat in my 98 Honda CR-V. I opened it all up, went to the page on installing with Lap-Shoulder belt, and the top of the page states Warning! Do not install without Top Tether!. Well, if I need to install using the seatbelts, chances are, I don't have top tethers either.
br /So I couldn't install this seat in my car. I ended up putting it in my DH's Grand Caravan, which my kids rarely ride in, and putting the Britax Roundabout from that, into my Honda.

We purchased a pair of these 1 month ago in order to get three car seats accross the back of our '02 Pontiac Montana minivan. Two radian 65s and a Britax Roundabout fit together perfectly.
br /
br /The good: All children using the seats find them to be comfortable despite being among the narrowest full size seats on the market (Children just under 40# right now with skinny butts). They do not miss their Britax Marathons. Polystyrene foam padding around head area. Deep side bolsters to protect in side impact. A wide range of seat harness height adjustments. Buckles are easy for children to buckle though a bit harder to unbuckle.
br /
br /The bad: Forward facing seat installation with shoulder belt was very difficult owing to poor routing of belt path. Seat belt is forced to bunch up making it very difficult to tighten belt adequately. Belt path is also quite low on seat requiring twisting of female seat belt end to lower it below belt path. After many four letter words during installation, they are finally in and are never coming out again. The seat is also quite heavy which can make it difficult to carry around despite its folding design. The sternum buckle brings the shoulder harnesses too close together causing them cut into the kids' necks uncomfortably. We replaced these with the buckles from Britax and problem is solved.
br /
br /Overall a safe and sturdy seat that makes it possible to put 3 seats accross a standard 48in. minivan 3rd row, but loses a star due to difficulty of installation.

With 5 children we have gone through a lot of car seats. This one is by far the easiest to use and the most comfortable for the kids. It easily installs with LATCH. It is a little more challenging using a seatbelt, but once it is in we have a great install. We bought 2 - one for a 5 year old and one for a 3 year old. Both are able to buckle themselves in and our 7 year old can unbuckle them. After riding in it for almost a month, my 5 year old still tells me how comfortable it is. We will be purchasing a 3rd when the baby is ready for a full sized carseat!
br /
br /If you are looking at putting 3 across a seat, make sure you have enough shoulder room. The top of the Radian is wider than the base - just enough so that we can not safetly install 3 in a rear bench.

Yes the folding feature is handy for people who travel on planes to grandpa's house... but it is heavy, and you have to buy an additional strap to carry it like a back pack.
br /
br /Also, THE COVERS ARE NOT MACHINE WASHABLE!! What kind of child's product isn't machine washable?!? Our one year old vomited old milk all over the car seat, and no amount of hand washing was going to get the smell of sour milk out, so we threw it in the wash... and it practically disintegrated. A replacement cover is $70.00! So instead I sewed it back together Frankenstein style, not very attractive, but it's working... sorta...
br /If the cover were washable, I would recommend this car seat... but without, I'd say keep looking.

This seat is so easy to travel with. It also has a narrow base which gives us extra room in the car. The straps are a little hard to tighten because my son's legs always seem to be in the way. Our old seat had the tightening device on the side and it was much easier to use.
br /The seat, however, is fantastic in terms of how much space it takes up.

My daughter is very tall but very light. She had outgorwn her infant seat, but not the weight limit. I searched and found the Sunshine Kids Radian 65 which could accomodate her height and her weight. The item came very quickly and it only took a few minutes to assemble. I will not hesitate to order from this site in the future. The latches are so easy and secure. I feel very confident with the carseat's steel construction and it fits very securely, no movement. My 4 year old likes it because it's not a baby seat, but she is still in a 5 point harness which keeps her comfortable. I am very impressed with this product and will purchase another one for our next child as well. I can't believe how easy it is to get her in and out of it! I was not happy at first with the cost, but after using it, I realized it was well worth it for her to be as safe as possible and now, it really doesn't seem so expensive. I couldn't put a cost on the security and safety of my child. It seems that it was designed and put together by people who know what parents and kids need.

This seat was an excellent purchase for my family. We needed to get three car seats in the second row of a mid-sized SUV or purchase a larger vehicle with three rows. Two of the seats and a booster fit with room to spare. The seat is heavy, but seems well built and comfortable. It takes some effort to move in and out of different cars. My son sat in it for 12 hours on a driving trip to Canada and his bottom was not sore. There are no cup holders or other little spaces, but overall, I feel that my kids are safe. The carry case/cover is not well made and will rip. I'll provide a different review for that item.

This carseat is AMAZING! We have had this carseat for over a year and a half and it is sooooo great, our 5yr old loves it and she will be in it until she is 6yrs old, which we love.
br / Yes the carseat is heavy but thats part of what I love about it. Also the price is really fantastic, Britax seats I think are ridiculously expensive, yes they are safe but not everyone can afford it so this seat is a perfect option.

The Radian65 was very easy to assemble and install. The directions were straight forward and the seat fits securely in our Mercury Sable. The back of the driver seat touches the back of the Radian65 when rear facing but hasn't impeded driving comfort or the angle of the car seat. I feel at ease knowing my son is comfortable and protected in such a sturdy seat.

After months of research, I bought one of these seats for my 9 month old, sold by it's narrowness and that it can fold for travel, since we fly east often. i also figured that it would hopefully be the last. It's installed rear-facing, installation wasn't a problem, I used the latch tethers on my CRV. I liked it enough to get one for my 3-year-old, who is 39 inches and about 30 pounds. It installed easily, sharing one latch tether with the other seat, and there's room for a person to sit in the back. She likes the seat, is even able to nap in it.
The seat is HEAVY, but manageable with the carry bag, or the strap. The design is a little dull, I wish they hadn't discontinued the blue one.

Seat cover keeps falling off to the left. This caused the styrofoam to chip off. The company (Sunshine Kids) refuses to send another one even though it's only been 3 months since purchase and I have a receipt. They keep saying it's amazon's responsibility. Amazon is only responsible for 30 days.
