Best Buy for my paranoid self!

I am an extremely paranoid person, as most of us are when it comes to our kids. I did a TON of research on the safety of car seats and am glad to say this was really smart purchase! My daughter and son were in the graco snug ride till they were about 4 months old ( thankfully that was one of the infant carrier car seats that passed the safety standards, just recently released!). We moved her into this seat for several reasons.
br /
br /1. You couldn't beat the safety rating (check out consumer reports) and the value. This was definitely well worth the purchase. We have 2 of them as I made sure to place both of my kids in the same seat and they are 2 years apart in age!
br /
br /2. I am a big person, so when I think about having to sit in a car for a long period of time, cushioning was very important to me, because I wanted the kids to be comfortable. We will be driving back and forth to California from Florida every year starting this year. I really do not want the children to be in a seat that offers them nothing. My daughter thinks she is the queen of the world when she is riding around in this seat. My son had issues riding in the car until we switched over to this seat! He loves it.
br /
br /3. This seat is easy as can be to use. My advice, read the instructions! They are behind the cloth in the car seat. To wash this and protect it, I usually take the cover and padding sections off and place them in king size pillow case, tie it off and throw them in the washing machine, then I hang it all to dry. Thankfully this dries pretty quickly.
br /
br /4. The only problem I came across was the straps getting stuck sometimes when you are trying to loosen them. With some work between my sister in law ( which by the way has the same car seat and loves it) and my self, we realized that there was dirt and crumbs getting stuck in the gear that loosens the car seat straps. If you look at the seat area of the car seat where the buckle is, you will see a flat metal plate that the buckle attaches to. That is where stuff gets down into, so to clear this up, when we clean the car, we started using the vacuum to clean that section of the car seat really well. Since we started to do that we have had NO problems.
br /
br /5. The reclining levels are AWESOME! My kids are always comfortable even when it is the long drives. The latch system is easy to use and a definite must have! I really could not have found a better car seat.
br /
br /I thought that I would have to buy the 2-3 hundred dollar car seats to find one that I would be comfortable with. Thankfully I didn't waste my money and I spent the time to do the research. Trust me when I say, YOU WILL LOVE THIS SEAT AND FEEL SAFE USING IT!

If your infant cries every time you put him in his carrier and starts screaming after only a few minutes in the car (as our second-born did), then you should switch to this car seat. Car rides were miserable for us when we were using the infant carriers, which tend to be skimpy on the cushioning to keep them lightweight. So, when our son was 3 months old, we ditched the carrier and bought this seat. He's a strapping toddler and still loving to go for rides.
br /
br /Here's what we love about this seat:
br /
br /1. The knobs on the sides of the seat make adjusting the straps relatively easy. Not completely pain free; loosening the shoulder straps can require a little finesse, but I think that is actually a safety feature rather than a problem with the seat. It's easier to loosen the shoulder straps when the child is not fastened in. So, when I remember, I will sometimes loosen the straps when I take my son out of the car. The next time I put him in, I simply fasten the straps and turn the knob to tighten them as needed. This is especially helpful in the fall and spring, when you never know how many layers of clothing your child will be wearing.
br /
br /2. This seat makes car rides peaceful and enjoyable for the entire family. The cushioning in this seat is downright luxurious. From the first time we put our son in this seat, we never had a problem with him dreading car rides. When he was an infant, this seat also offered enough support and recline to eliminate the "floppy head syndrome" that makes grandparents cringe. It also sits up very high, so the child can see out the car windows easily.
br /
br /3. Finally, the safety ratings. With the recent revelations from Consumer Reports' testing of infant carriers, I think we need to ask ourselves what we may be risking for the sake of being able to carry a sleeping baby into a restaurant. With this seat, you don't have to worry about the seat separating from the base, and the side-impact protection is stellar.
br /
br /I'm a mom of three boys. I've done my research and experienced some trial and error in car seats. The Triumph is hands-down the best seat on the U.S. market, including the more expensive Britax models.

Maybe not the easiest, but definately the SAFEST!

[...] gives this seat its highest rating for "Infant LATCH crash protection" and for "Toddler LATCH crash protection" and for "Infant belt crash protection." It gets only the second highest rating on things like ease of use. Is it perfect? NO! But, it is the BEST for crashes. I was rear-ended this week and my twins are safe and unhurt and that's what really matters! Deal with the little stuff and buy your carseat to keep the kids safe!

After a lot of research on convertible car seats, I was deciding between the Britax and this car seat. I have twins and will be eventually getting 4 car seats, so price was a major factor. I decided on the Evenflo Triumph DLX and I have to say I love it! I've read a lot of reviews on these that say that they are hard to install, difficult to move the straps to a different position and difficult to release. I found that the installation took 10 minutes to get it tight in both my Acura and my husbands Tahoe. The straps are easily moved without removing the car seat by detaching the cover and lifting a panel. The harness release takes some getting used to after using Graco Snugride seats, but after a few times it's apiece if cake! My son that is using this seat also loves it! He falls asleep rapidly and can see out the window more easily. Like the title says, I bought 2 and will shortly be being 2 more!!br /

Best buy I've made on a carseat.

I read the consumer reports to make sure I was getting the best seat for my baby and this was rated in their top 5. Well worth it too. I'm not sure what the others are complaining about with the seatbelts and straps but I've not had any troubles at all. The knob on the side works great for me as far as loosening or tightening the straps. I'm using this as a forward facer for my 19 month old. It sits a bit high in my explorer but we're getting used to it. I'm seriously considering getting another one for our other car.

This carseat is great! We bought it for our 2 month old and it works like it said it would. Most complaints I read were about the reclining and baby's head slumping forward. We've hardly had trouble out of that. Our other carseat is not a convertible and our baby's head slumped forward in it. With this carseat we do not have a problem with that all that often. There is a head cushion with it for a baby but we do not use it. I drive a 4-Runner and the seats slant downward towards the back of the seat, which resulted in the carseat wanted to lean as well, but we reclined this carseat back as far as it would go and it does fine. It looks really nice and feels very comfortable.

My son out grew the infant carrier at 4 mo... this has been great for him in the rear facing mode. We drove cross country recently and he was comfortable the whole time. It is also easy to hook. It does take up a lot of room though in the rear facing position, hard to sit in the seat in front of him. We still have some time before we switch to the forward facing... looking forward to that!

Nice product. It's comfortable and it feels soft. The overall material seems durable. It's easy to handle the safety belts, therefore there is no problems putting or taking out children from the car seat. I think it's smaller than other car seats (i.e. Graco) but it will be helpful for a couple of years. I'm proud about buying this car seat. Good brand.

I agree with the other reviews that safety is #1 when buying a carseat and this by far has top rating for this; however, with 4 kids our second important factor is easy dismanteling for washing. After my baby got a bitter biscuit all over the car seat and straps I began the task of disassembly. This was not so easy. After 30 mins. I finally called customer support and then found out that you cannot remove the straps for washing. So I had to give the car seat a bath and scrub the sraps with a toothbrush. Did I mention to take the cushion off you have remove 8 screws and the back panel. This is way to much work for me and I would probably make another choice.

This car seat is very comfortable for my daughter and was great when she was really small and couldn't support her head because it reclines way back and has a lot of padding. However, I nearly came to the point of throwing it away and buying a new seat at one point. For several months, I had a ton of trouble with the straps. They are extremely difficult to adjust at times. For some reason, the straps are not giving me trouble any more, but they can be frustrating if they get "stuck." For that reason, I would not recommend this car seat.

Takes some getting use to....

This is a really pretty car seat. Very plush upholstery. The directions are a little cryptic, but you really need to read them to use this product. The harness is counter intuitive to what I was used to. Basically, you have to adjust the straps with the little knob on the side. Loosen it before the baby goes in the seat. fasten the buckle around the baby and then tighten the straps with the knob. Voila!
br /
br /Good seat, just takes some finesse.

My husband got into a car accident about two months ago with our two year old in the backseat in this carseat. It was a pretty bad accident (as my husband has a fractured back and torn rotator cuff!) My two year old son was completely fine! He had a little scratch on his chin, but other than that was fine! We are going out today to buy the replacement for that car seat (as you are ALWAYS supposed to replace a car seat that has been in a car accident!) and we will not buy anything less than the Evenflo Triumph. It saved our son from harm! I wish my HUSBAND had been in one! :)

Perhaps this car seat is the safest- and ultimately that's what's important. But, I had a difficult time using it, installing it, carrying it, latching baby in and ESPECIALLY unlatching it to get the baby out. Plus, the directions left out a lot of info like how to use the included pads for newborns.
br /
br /Also, it's very big. We had it in our '05 Honda Accord facing backwards, and neither one of us in the front could recline our seats enough. We ended up buying a second seat, untl the baby is big enough to face forward. I wasn't to pleased with that.

Prior to purchasing this car seat we had the Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio. We thought because it was Mamas and Papas, the car seat would be well worth the ridiculous price tag but no, we were dead wrong.
br /
br /For starters, the Evenflo Triump is using Latches both on the bottom as well as the top. Second the harness is not easy to remove even by an adult. Third, the cushions are very soft and well placed that our daughter is seated comfortably. Lastly, the price, I mean this one is three times cheaper than the Primo Viaggio but is far more superior. I guess we shouldn't have based our initial selection just by brand name.
br /
br /We will definitely buy the same car seat for next child.

I bought this carseat for our first baby in 2004 because it had the 2nd highest rating after Britax which was $299. Back then I bought this carseat for $100. It's easy to install and easy to buckle in my son and a lot easier to take him out just by loosening the harness. Last year I was rear ended by a van and my 2.5 yr old son was fine and safe in his Triumph carseat as well as his 8 mos. old brother.
br /
br /I had my parents buy the Evenflo Titan which was cheaper and came in 3rd on Consumer Reports but it's a pain getting my son in and out of the Titan. Six months ago we bought another Evenflo Triumph for our then 14 mos. old son. We installed it rear facing in our "03 Honda Odyssey with no problems (just slide the honda seat back and recline it a little to give the baby leg room.) There's plenty of room for the driver's seat to slide back or recline. I highly recommend this carseat for your baby's safety.

Bought this car seat for our grandaughter. She seems to snuggle right into it. It is soft and padded and we like the fact that is was rated the safest by many experts. Have used it rear facing and now at one, she sits forward. The only downfall in forward facing is that when she falls asleep her head can sometimes bob forward because of the angle of the seat. Seat secures nice and tight in our vehicles. I like the easy adjustments that can be made as needed depending on the bulkiness of the clothes she is wearing and how the straps fit. Highly recommend this safe seat and at a very reasonable cost. Safety doesn't always have to be expensive.

I purchased this car seat after lots of research on the internet. It is a very good car seat for it's price. It was super easy to install and my little boy loves to sit in it. We are using it rear facing and he is very comfortable where he is at. I love the ease of adjusting the straps with the knob. I read some reviews where people had troubles but I haven't ran into any yet, just make sure you read the instructions. I love the fact that it reclines unlike other models. I would definatley recommend this carseat over some of the more spendy brands on the market.

I purchased this car seat because of the high safety reviews for Evenflo Triumph. I first looked at other Triumph car seats at the retail store to take measurements, test the sturdiness, and have a visual on how my 14 mos. old would look in it. This seat does not disappoint. I like the convenient knob feature to adjust the harness. The recline feature is nice but could only be fully utilized when the seat is in the rear facing position. The seat itself is a nice design and the cushions appear to be easy to remove for washing. The only disappointment was that the picture is deceiving, in that the color is not the light beige with gray trim, but actually a light gray microfiber material with black trim. As far as the size, it is big but so are many others, with the different being a couple of inches. I am very happy with this purchase, and my baby loves this seat in that she can easily see out the car windows and it is so soft that she is comfortable enough to fall asleep during the long car rides we take.

My 13mo daughter enjoys it. It's much more comfortable than her previous infant seat (Graco SnugRide). We have a Graco convertible seat for my older daughter (3yr) that has just taken a beating, and does not feel or look as comfortable as the evenflo triumph. Some of the Graco's styrofoam is breaking off, and some of it we duct-taped together. We are going to replace that seat with the evenflo triumph!

My nine-month-old daughter is in the 95th percentile in height and weight and outgrew her carseat carrier. She has used this for three months and seems to be comfortable in it. I chose this carseat for its safety ratings, consumer ratings, design and accessories. This carseat is designed to easily tighten/loosen straps. I recommend that when adjusting the height of straps, do so in your home prior to installing the carseat. This will allow you to have maximum space to adjust settings and learn how the straps work. When I turn the yellow knob to loosen the straps, I like the fact that when I pull the belt loose on one side, it will automatically loosen the other side as well. My trick to adjust the straps at the shoulders: one side at a time, hold the straps parallel to the ground and feed the strap in while pulling on the other end (of the looped strap).

I recently purchased this seat from amazon and am very happy. It was manufactured in January of 2007(I have never had anything this new!). The entire cover is removeable for washing and it has the EPS(EPP) foam that offers more protection in the event of an accident. The instructions for use are VERY detailed, as long as you take the time to read and understand them you should have very little to no problems with installation and use. It is very comfortable and stylish. I think overall this product is well worth the money spent and is safe and comfortable for most any child.

We commute in heavy traffic to and from work/daycare, so our son spends a lot of time in the car. When we were looking for a car seat, comfort was our second priority behind safety. We chose this one and bought one for each car, considering it an investment in our son's bottom. We really could not be happier.
br /
br /We have used this as both rear and front facing, and I have found it easy to work with. It is very easy to adjust the straps (once you learn how--and that's the trick. you HAVE to read the instructions which are in a pouch INSIDE the cover of the car seat.), and lightweight enough that I didn't mind moving it around from car to car when we were shopping for a new vehicle.
br /
br /Our second car was totaled in a rear end collision. Thankfully our son was not in the car. I expected that the car seat would be destroyed, but it was not. I was very impressed by the way it withstood the impact, and feel like our son would have been safe in it.
br /
br /My only complaint is that you can't throw the cover into the washing machine. Once your child has barfed in it, it's pretty much stained for life. I have gotten around this by putting a receiving blanket down over the cover, but I do not like that about the seat. Otherwise? I wish MY seat were so comfy.

br /"This car seat is by far the best I've used. I went through several with my older child and never really loved any of them. I LOVE this seat and most important my son does too. We've been using it for several months including a few longer distance trips and he seems very comfortable in it. It was a little confusing to initially figure out coming out of the box but now it is so simple and convienent. I live in New England and it is normally such a hassle to have to adjust the straps everyday based on what my baby is wearing with constant weather changes. With this seat there is a knob on each side of the seat you turn to loosen or tighten the straps. It takes seconds. As he grows and I need to adjust the height of the straps I don't have to take the seat out of the car. I simply undo and lift the fabric backing and slide the straps up. I love that the seat is so well cushioned too. The only thing I don't like about this seat is the cupholder. It's cheap and flimsy. Overall this carseat is by far the best for the money."

After spending a decent amount on this product, we are beyond disappointed. In fact, this seat causes us aggrevation every time we get into the car. The shoulder harnesses have not one, but two straps that are not both threaded through the chest clip. This means that each time we put our baby in the car, we have to try to adjust both straps as they overlap and are threaded through the same holes in the seat. One strap will be over the shoulder, while the other is halfway down her arm. Not only does it move every time we get her in and out of the car, but it is not easy to adjust. The knobs on the side are not easy to use and get caught and stuck. It is even worse when our baby goes from a thin shirt one car ride to a sweatshirt on another ride. We are going to ditch it and buy another seat as it is a hassle and ends up not being as safe as we want it to. We took it to a car seat safety check sponsored by our local police and they too said that it was poorly designed.
