Description:
Safety 1st Intera 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat The Safety 1st Intera 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat will take a child home from the hospital, take them to their first day of school and even to their wedding! OK, maybe not their wedding, but this convertible car seat certainly spans several years. With most car seat laws requiring a child to stay in a car seat until 8 years old or about 100 lbs., getting value out of a baby car seat is very important. This Safety 1st car seat works rear facing from 5 lbs. and to 100 lbs. as a booster. The standout feature of the Safety 1st Intera 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is its range. There are very few versions of car seat which double as both a belt positioning and backless booster. Simply pull the metal rod out of the base and lift the car seat up. The booster is essentially the base of the Safety 1st car seat. It is a convertible car seat which is also lightweight as it weighs in at just 20 lbs with the base weighing just 8 lbs. Kids love familiar items at an early age, such as a doll or blanket. This car seat from Safety 1st will be very familiar as it will be the first and last car seat the child ever rides in. It may not last till marriage, but it's nice to know that if it had to it could.Get more product details from Amazon

I am totally satisfied with this carseat. It was a bit tricky getting it installed in the car (I recommend reading the instructions, and having an extra set of hands to help you install it) but all carseats can be a bit tricky.
br /
br /My 7 month old son loves this carseat because it sits higher up than his first seat and he can see outside (this makes our road trips MUCH more pleasant).
br /
br /There are lots of places for you to adjust the straps, buckle, and headrest so you can really make the seat fit your baby. I am not sure how well it would work for a newborn because it doesn't recline as far as carseats that are only rear-facing, and it might make it harder for your little one to take naps and keep his head in a comfortable position. (Plus, it is SO nice to have a carseat with a detachable base for a brand new baby so you don't have to wake them up when they are sleeping). But if you only want one carseat, I am sure a neck support pillow in the carseat would work great for newborns.
br /
br /My favorite feature of this carseat is that I won't have to keep buying more carseats (and then find a place to store the old ones) until my son is old enough to ride without one!

I really like this car seat and was looking for one that we could use for a long time. . .I think this is it. It's very big with the base, but I like the fact that it doesn't move around a lot - not flimsy at all.
br /
br /However, it took me about an hour to figure it all out and get it configured for my son with the straps and everything. I will say that it can be difficult and time consuming to actually put into the vehicle because you have to shove the seat belt underneath and inside the base of the car seat with one hand, while pulling it through with the other - - a little tricky and frustrating if it gets tangled up in the middle of the base. Despite the frustrations, I totally recommend this one! I love the colors and padding of the seat - - cup holder looks useless, but I haven't installed it yet.

We bought the Cosco rendition of this car seat about 2 1/2 years ago, when our daughter outgrew her infant seat. At the time we drove a 2 door hatch back, and we needed something that would fit in our car rear facing.
br /We liked this one because it was affordable, had wide straps that were less likely to twist, had easily adjustable straps, and would fit. It transfered well into our mini-SUV, when we upgraded cars.
br /I liked that you could remove the base, which then created another car seat, and made it smaller, for a tighter fit. Or you could leave the base on, which lifted the seat higher so that our daughter could see out he window better.
br /A year ago we got in a car accident and it had to be replaced. I was quite disappointed that I couldn't find it on the market. So I replaced it with the Cosco Alpha Omega, which we like too, but not as well.
br /My second child is now at the point where he needs a convertible, so when I saw this one available I'm buying it.
br /It really is a good deal, safe, and easy to use (if you read the instructions).

The car seat itself is awesome, but the condition it arrived in was awful. The box was smashed and caved in and it had been exposed to rain or moisture of some kind. There was nothing covering the seat (like a plastic bag) so debris had gotten into the box and soiled the material on the seat. It was a gift for my Grandson for Christmas so I didn't have time to return it and hope for a timely return. It took alot of time and effort to clean the spots off the seat. Simply packing the seat with a plastic bag over it would have made alot more sense to me.

I am very happy with this car seat. It came very quickly even though it was around Christmas. The car seat fits well in our car as well as in our truck and our daughter seems to be very comfortable in it.

This seat serves its purpose, however I'd recommend buying another one. I bought it for the 4 in 1 benefit, however, it is difficult to get it stable in the car because of my minivan seat. A rolled towel helps, but doesn't always keep it in place.

This is a good car seat. I can't quite get it to be level with the ground like it is suppose to be when the base is attached, but it works the same still. Also, the clips for the buckles get turned around sometimes on the strap. That is the biggest pain I have had with this. My daughter loves it!

Pros: Does EVERYTHING you NEED!!!
Cons: very large, not too bad w/o base
Thanks for your feedback
This carseat, because it does so much, is a bit more complex than others. BUT if you read and follow the directions it will be the best carseat you ever buy!!!
My only concern is the fact that it will probably expire before my child is done with it as a lot of States go up to 7 years and here in the UK where we are currently stationed the law is 12 years! But by that point we could always get the Graco booster for the remaining little bit.

There are INDEED a lot of straps and if you lose the instructions, good luck! The metal bar that keeps the main car seat attached to the base is a pain. It is very difficult to get in, or out. If you have to switch back and forth, you run the risk of breaking one of the tabs! I only took ours out 3 times before one side tab broke and the other showed a lot of stress at the joint. My son loved the seat from day one, which was a big deal because he was always weird about being in the car for any length of time. He's almost 3 now and still loves it and it has grown with him, and he's still got room to keep growing. I just wish it were easier to deal with! It's also heavy - especially if you're like me and leave the booster attached so you don't lose it or damage it! If you're going to spend over $100.00 on a carseat anyway, I think another model would give you a better value. If I had tried this carseat out before I bought it, I would not have bought it! My son's love for it is the only thing that has kept it around this long!

This seat is difficult to install. I finally had to take it to my local fire department for a professional install. Every time I move the seat for any reason, I have to take it back to the fire department. My two year old son has already out-grown the seat by height even though he is well within the parameters. Customer service says this is possible and they can't guarantee it will fit every child. The crotch strap is difficult to fasten and I can barely snap it even though it is at the widest slot and my son is very thin. My son complains about the straps being uncomforable and the crotch hurting. We have to replace this seat for safety reasons and poor fit. There are much better choices available, keep looking!
I thought this would be the last car seat I needed

I bought this car seat because it was supposed to be used for children up to 100 pounds and I thought it would be the last one I would need. My son is now 22 months old and he has outgrown the 5-point harness straps because they are not long enough and if he has a jacket on, I can't get them around him. He is too short and does not weigh enough for the shoulder belt system. It is adjusted at it's longest setting and it is too short. I had to buy a new car seat, I just got it in yesterday and it's 5-point harness system is so much better and fits kids until they are tall enough and weigh enough to go to the shoulder belt system. I now have a Graco seat and it is wonderful.
I LIKE THIS SEAT!

I LIKE THIS SEAT! IT WILL LAST TILL MY SON IS OUT OF A CAR SEAT. IT IS HARD TO BUCKLE (WITH THE CARS SEAT BELT)WITH THE BOSTER SEAT STILL ATTACHED, BUT WHEN YOU TAKE IT OFF IT WORKS JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. I HAVE NO COMPLANT EXCEPT THAT IT IS HARD TO BUCKLE IN THE CAR WITH THE CARS SEAT BELTS. I HAVEN'T TRIED THE TEATHER SYSTEM.

br /If you are looking for a good car seat, contact your local Police Department...chances are there is an Officer on the force who is a Certified Safety Seat Installer. This Officer has received special training in the correct way to install safety seats. My husband is one for his department.
br /
br /Make an appointment with the Officer to do an install...it's a FREE SERVICE, and the Officer will not only install your car seat CORRECTLY, but they will also show you how to do it. If you haven't yet purchased a car seat, you can speak to the Officer for his recommendations. My husband, at a typical Child Safety Event (Events usually sponsored by local hospitals and Ambulance Squads) installs about 100-200 safety seats per event! These Officers not only know what car seats are better, but they might also be able to recommend a seat for your vehicle (depending on how long they have been doing this!). It's worth a few minutes of your time to call them!
br /
br /Also, if your seat is on a national recall list, or your seat is expired (seats have an Expiration date, which many parents don't realize when handing down a seat from one sibling to a next) the Officer may be able to GIVE YOU A NEW SEAT FOR FREE...on the spot!
br /
br /The sad fact is that 85% of car seats installed today are improperly installed. 85%! My husband has seen the most loving, intelligent and safety conscious of parents with horribly installed car seats that were completely dangerous! He has also seen, first hand, the tragedy unfold when a child in an improperly installed seat is involved in a very minor accident....the child should have walked away, and didn't.

Love this seat it's nice and cozy for baby and doesn't move around when hooked in correct. The only down part is if you take it apart to wash everything be prepared to spend forever putting it back together.
Pretty poor carseat.

This carseat is hard to install with the booster still attached. The fabric is very cheap, and it melted in the dryer. I wash my carseats after every roadtrip, and it didn't even last one roadtrip before melting. It ripped the day that I got it trying to adjust the straps. I was very disappointed in this carseat. I would not purchase it again. I loved my previous carseats being the Alpha Omega, and a Graco. If you are looking for something cheap this is the product. There are other products out there that are in the same price range that would be better manufactured. Try those ones first. This is an awful carseat.

Do yourself a favor, do not purchase this car seat unless you are extremely handy and have about 2 hrs to install into your car. I purchased this back in April and am still trying to get it into my car. It looks really nice, and I'm sure if/when I actually get it into my car it will be fine. Both my husband and I spend 2 saturday mornings trying to install this seat and gave up. We're going to give it another try tomorrow. It really is not USER FRIENDLY

Okay were to start. This car seat looks good on paper but that is it. When it arrived the box was completely smashed and the car seat already had a tear in it.If you have the LATCH system in your car you must find, and shove all the belts inside the seat. Then pull them out the correct places. Not so easy. Then in order to attach it to the base you must pull out a metal bar and once the seat is attached, slide it back. This is very hard. So once there together it is a pain to take apart.
br /
br /For facing backwards, if the seat is not level with your car seats, use a towel or blanket. You shouldn't have to do that. Plus with my baby in it his feet are still squished into the rear seat. Once you turn it forward, to get the belts adjusted, you press a button on the bottom of the car seat and pull them towards you. This would work fine if the BASE wasn't holding them so you CAN'T MOVE THEM. We took the car seat off the base so we could adjust the belts. What is the point of that.
br /
br /Once it is in your car the way you want it does suit it's purpose but I highly suggest buying something of better quality.
